Alright guys, the time for locking this thread has come, can you all please use the Folding Community Board for all further talk.

Those who participated in the event and were eligible for the badge should now have it.   If there are any issues with the event badges please contact me. And there is time until the event starts so there is plenty of time to set up your systems.

Oh wow, I missed the dates first time I read the post, I thought it was already underway, ?  Yeah, I may stick it on the kids' PCs and the living room HTPC as well just so they can all be doing something productive with the spare CPU cycles.  Only thing I'll probably keep it off is my laptop, cause' it's battery is kinda "meh" as it is.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend running F@H on a laptop. Their batteries and cooling just really aren't up for a constant heavy load.
Though, I do wonder how a mobile GPU will compare to its desktop counterpart when it comes to PPW (Points Per Watt).

Which is why I described how to tweak laptops for folding 24/7 w/o problems like overheating. But I forgot to say about DC power, thanks for reminder.

Considering the fact that difference of power draw in percent is bigger than difference in frequencies, I'd say laptops are usually more effective in that regard.

While PCs can crank up frequencies and calculate stuff faster, laptops can do so with less power.

I do it myself on my MSI GS63VR 6RF (i7-6700HQ, GTX 1060 6 GB Mobile non-Max-Q).

Frequency of CPU: 2.6 GHz (disabled Turbo Boost and undervolted it)

Temperature of CPU: 77°C

Frequency of GPU: 1657 MHz on chip/7604 MHz on memory (lowered power state to save some energy and lower temps)

Temperature of GPU: 84°C (which is passable)

Ambient room temp: 27°C

Purify your Windows 10/11, don't give Microsoft anything that you don't want to share.

If we keep up the current page pace, we'll be around 140'ish before the competition even starts.  But, we've been picking up speed as we go, so let's expo this thing to the moon!

@GOTSpectrum actually, speaking of the first page, in regard to the badges, are we still going with the 1/3/5 split for earning them?

Heh, I started folding with last years event, and never stopped.

 

It seems that I've worked myself all the way up to 9th place in the Team during the year.

 

Much better than I thought I'd do, thats for sure.

It is looking like we will take over PC Games Hardware folding team during the event, but it would take a miracle to stop Banano from overtaking us, but that does mean we will

I went to the Banano site to try and figure it out and what the draw is, and none of it makes any sense or gives any details.  Are they really just a giant meme to get people to fold?
