LTT Official Folding Month 2019!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Alright guys, the time for locking this thread has come, can you all please use the Folding Community Board for all further talk.

Thank you all again for participating in the event.

Once the sheet is cleaned up I will edit this post to add the link to the spreadsheet.

@TVwazhere Can you please lock this thread for me.

If there's anyone out there with experience ingesting and presenting data here that can help out we need to get a system up and running over the Winter for testing likely next spring.

I may be able to help.

Can you point me in the direction of the data sources and/or another teams site that kinda does what you have in mind I could look at?

So I have the server set up, and the CPU is folding nicely, but FAH isn't detecting the GPUs. I've tried reinstalling drivers, updating clinfo, and rebooting, but no luck.

Here's what seems to be the log (when I type FAHClient into shell):

Yeah you have to add the gpu’s to fold.

check this tutorial. Scroll down to where it says in orange ‘other servers .......”

follow those steps and you’ll be gpu folding too ☺️

Turns out, being that the server is running Ubuntu 16, instead of "apt install nvidia-driver-430", I had to do "apt install nvidia-430".

It's the little things.

I was running the Ubuntu 18 in it, check my other post for more info regarding g the gpu

Personally I don't have much experience with ingesting data (but would be willing/want to learn), but do have experience with presenting data and SQL quering, so if you're still looking for team members, would love to help out!

For sure!

As I said though, I am not really well-versed in the data retrieval (not sure where you would even get the folding stats - seeing as EOC specifically mentions 'please don't copy all stats' and 'please don't query this a lot of times' etc.).

Spoiler

Personally I have some more experience with querying the data (like getting daily - weekly - monthly data) - recording certain achievements (e.g. user x achieved xMillion points at date y).

We could do some pretty interesting stats for the end of a folding month too - like checking the average points per day, so get an idea of seeing what days are the best in the event for example.

It just kind of depends what kind of data you want to get out of the database and in what format.

@Gorgon if you got a database full of data, you can already do quite a bit with that already.

I'm just thinking about what is the best way to store the data by date too. Just like EOC has hourly - daily - etc. point amounts, it might be better to have only daily data for example.

Plus the developer for that website too mentions when there are no changes in an entry (e.g. a user doesn't fold for a day - so they achieve 0 extra points) he just doesn't store that information. That of course is a good way to safe some data.

https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/?nav=DBINFO

If we will make a database for the future events (or just for the community in general), there should be some thought about timezones too; specifically: it should be mentioned what the timezone is the database works in.

EDIT: put the details in a spoiler to unclutter the page a bit

Damn son.. I want my P100 And 2 *1080 back ?

I'mm be only doing about 1.4M ppd after the event ends. Taking the 1080ti off folding and reducing power draw for ITNOS's 1070ti's

Hey everybody,

the end of this years folding month is nearby and as I was looking at my stats I was wondering how the days of activity are calculted ? You need at least 20 days of activity but sometimes it takes more than 24h for some big WU to finish so there are days with 0 wu finished

Days that show a return of a work unit.  That's one of the reasons 20 is the requirement, vs most all of the event, to allow for several days that drop off the radar for one reason or another.  Adding a core or two on CPU fold helps to make sure something trickles in at least each day, even if your mega point monster on an older GPU takes a day and a half to complete before you get a bunch of points.  You can see it in my point graph with this happening a lot (just click my forum badge).

this is definitely one of the upsides of running folding on a blend of cpu and gpu hardware across multiple platforms, the WU timing tends to mesh well
