LTT Official Folding Month 2019!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Alright guys, the time for locking this thread has come, can you all please use the Folding Community Board for all further talk.

Thank you all again for participating in the event.

Once the sheet is cleaned up I will edit this post to add the link to the spreadsheet.

@TVwazhere Can you please lock this thread for me.

So I have 1* 2070 and 2 * 1080’s folding, I’m seeing ~2.4m ppd last 2 days.

it seems low to me, what should the average be for these cards ?

A 2070 should, on average, do 1.3MPPD for a "A" binned variant and slightly less for the non-binned TU106 but my average over the last two weeks was 1.44MPPD

A 1080 should yield around 800-1100kPPD but do you have the ability to set a more aggressive fan-curve and a mild GPU overclock on the rented cards?

It seems that every time I check in my 2070 is doing around ~1.25M. Not sure on output of 1080’s as they are server rented ?

FAHClient --send-command ppd

Correct.  To get the individual PPDs you need to use the "queue-info" command NOT "slot-info"

user@banality:~# FAHClient --send-command queue-info

I don't know if this is the right place to post this so forgive me if its incorrect.

I was wondering if i'm getting maximum performance.. All machines are using Windows 10 with just the GPU running as I was seeing better numbers in the last 24 days of messing around. but I'm seeing the average PPD on each card as follows.

RTX2080TI  - 2637577

RTX2060     - 918315

980TI           - 585599

GTX1050TI  - 181531

I know this event is nearly over but just interested how other people are running systems out there ie LINUX vs Windows etc or there figures look about right.

Ta !

all of this looks right with windows but with linux you will definitely get a nice 10-20% boost across the board on ppd. (except the 2080ti simply because its too powerful to be fully utilized for most of the work units so that will be random between 2.5-3.2m ppd no matter what from what I've heard.

So my next question.. as I was going to do this for the last week.. Is it dependent of which flavour ? e.g Ubuntu / Mint /Zorin  or is it just all the same bag due to the drivers released from Nvidia. . Phanks!

Most of us run a Debian based distro just because it has the most support. PPD wise I don't think it makes a difference which distro you use at all. But ease of getting up and running I think Debian based is much easier than the rest but then again most of my Linux experience is from Kali/Ubuntu (both Debian based) so that might just be me.

I can’t speak to any of those cards other than the 2060. My 2060, an EVGA XC Ultra Gaming, is a poor overclocker and with +45, which is the max stable overclock I could achieve, gets on a 14-day average 1030kPPD but I had, in the past with other friendlier mixed of WUs seen averages of 1100PPD

I have the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB XC BLACK GAMING. So have no idea how that stacks up. I am just in the process of finishing your guide with the old MSI 980ti and as I have a benchmark will let you know the difference!

I had an issue when my DNS provider yesterday which gave me issues. Turns out cloudflare and Amazon AWS were being DDoSed which caused intermittent DNS issues in certain areas. Switched to Google DNS servers for the time being and everything started working again.

Is it possible to share what kind of setup are you using at the top of the board?

Is it like a hundred of computers or a few massive ones?

Also I was wondering what kind of score I could expect with a 3700X and a 5700XT?

Have a nice day and thanks again for the daily reports and sorry for posting in the wrong thread...

The 5700xt isnt supported yet due to driver issues

not sure what PPD you would get on the 3700x though

Is it possible to share what kind of setup are you using at the top of the board?

Is it like a hundred of computers or a few massive ones?

Most people below the 3mil PPD are just folding using a single GPU or maybe two, current gaming GPU + their old one. Anyone above 3mil PPD is likely using a high end dual GPU system or multiple systems. It's actually not too difficult to get a decently high PPD, however breaking in to the upper group of producers is much harder because they are all hardware hoarders.
