Server racks started coming in, but the fun part was when wifey's parts started arriving.

The Noctua's, and the Ram showed up.

So after I had finish dropping the board in, at 2am I got started on the fan wall.  Too much excitement lol.

I was curious and slightly "baking a cake", when I was like there too much silver/chrome on this machine.

Sound amazing, but that comes with the type of fans that you use.  "Noc, or Cors".

In terms of air flow, is hard to beat server cases  like this one or similar style.  (3x 120mm front, 2x 80mm back, and you can go ballistic with that fan wall from 3 to 6 depending how you mount them.

There's a dude called JDM_WAAT on youtube as well, he did a Anniversary build I believe it was the same case.

He went with 2 Evga's Hydro blocks, on a dual xeon.

Hope it helps.

  • 2 weeks later...

Threw a nuc on the rack, currently learning how to run my on web server without having to pay someone like godaddy.

So far so good, I managed to tie the host from no-ip to it and it's working great online.

Never done it before so I thought it was cool to have a dedicate server for my own personal page project.

I ran it first on a vm, before any changes to the Nuc.

Manage to get:

Apache

Mariadb

Php

Wordpress

So far so good, I'm sure to some that stuff is easy.

But hey better late than never right lol.

image.thumb.png.6f4df05ac9862ddb6b6e3a702bb8e6a5.png

I'm building the site as more as a fun project, that I can use to help me learn and develop my self pace in web design and dev.

I use to be a huge fan of the movie hackers, since it kinda started me into tech.  Soooo... lol.

image.thumb.png.c0a417e8b2d27d64065cff00d28a3019.png

I figure if i'm having fun during a personal project, it'll just keep motivating me to keep learning.

So far i'm getting html, and css done.   After I think i'm suppose to be aiming for php or better JS which has been catching my eye for sure.

Ended up using this little guy, and it worked like a charm.

I threw the server on the top of the rack and ran a short line, to test the server and do some of the initial setups.

Now that the sever is up, I started working on the bucket-list made from linu's show and other things i'm interested in.

Started with the move obvious, cause we have a few gamers living the same home lol.

71694884_10215050563473861_8420411240689434624_n.jpg.5f94c28dba530f8ad1ce8d247502246e.jpg

From setting up the machine both me and my wife remote into, when doing work with application we don't feel like paying more than one license for.

71853360_10215046983824372_7544786955154751488_n.jpg.20499dc84b7d938124111062cfdaafb1.jpg

Finally learn how to add and Iscsi the Synology box with the ESXi.  This is where the vm for the steam cache server resides, to that that the synology box is responsible for protecting it.   At best on my end now all i need to do is make sure I keep my snap shoots, and maintain the registration to the vm on the right directory.

72046330_10215052448720991_741898730722033664_n.jpg.c2ce49d3ba014b685e75ce62c83deb8c.jpg

I started knocking services out of the Synology box, specially the plex server to move it.

Picked up some cheap key's, and other than the site being a bit buggie so far so good.

72380050_10215043973789123_7806259221195915264_o.thumb.jpg.bcb861608e5c94ef096df368e0c008db.jpg

A couple of frineds of mines, and my self decided to learn about bug bounty and learn as a group and maybe try it to see how we enjoy it.  As well as giving us a chance to hang out and help eachother as we learn.   I hated the idea of using discord, cause honestly I just can't stand knowing i went from a privately own/ran Teamspeak server to a public server, where people come and go... Maybe is just me, but if it gives me a chance to learn something new why not.

So I went online, and found about rocketchat, and lord be-hold is a part of the ubuntu svr install, and to boot I get the wormhole all in one shot why not.

72660254_10215067694542127_7455021610387374080_n.jpg.21678d901edda0998712c03e2eba1eb7.jpg

Server is up, and is working so far and i know it's not pointing out to the web.

But considering i'm not interested in the world jumping on to this thing, i was thinking of a quick and dirty solution.

72528773_10215068189754507_6523347615092834304_n.jpg.b4fdbf30b01e3f39bae95f5beca057cb.jpg

Meet the quick and dirty solution, I hope will finish that up.

Hope fully things go well, it's for fun i'm not getting paid, and honestly I could just be on the streets doing something stupid....right?

Stay home go 420 levels, and get on the machine like a punching bag....

Capture.JPG.125220b93eea395f640e13d67d48ede5.JPG

All for now.

Mtc....
