in help of deciding between GTX 1660 Ti and RX 590

Im planning on upgrading from my gtx 960 but I don't know what's the better option. they cost the same for me so it's just a deciding factor on what's more future proof

Gtx 1660 ti is the faster card. Tho i would consider steppin up to a rx 5700 or a used gtx 1070

the stock 5700 costs +/- 100 euros more for me so it's kind of a steep price and there realy isn't a used market here.....

1660ti, period. RX 590 is even slower than the 1660 non ti

A used 1070 would be a bad idea. Higher versions of the 1660 Ti (like the Asus ROG Model) perform similar to and often better than the GTX 1070. Wtach Linus' video on the 1660 Ti

Nah it's a gap of 50 euro from the cheapest nitro + rx 590 to the most expensive GTX 1660 ti

Honestly, I don't know. Its reviews look decent on Amazon but I don't have any personal experience with or with any of MSI's GPUs in general. This is where YouTube comes in handy. There are a ton of videos on YouTube discussing the differences and comparisons between different models of the 1660 Ti. I strongly recommend checking them out.

Typically the armor cards have lower end cooling compared to other msi cards but still get the job done as long as you have proper air flow in your case. If the price difference isn't high I usually like to get one of the nicer models just because they tend to boost better and often run quiter.

so the stock 1070...... the reason isnt exactly performance. its the cost savings. so i dont see how its a bad idea. also the 1070 is a tad faster iirc

GPUs in particular are something you should never buy used even if it'll save you a few bucks. Saving by going for a less powerful GPU is something I would recommend over going for a used GPU.

Well for now i have landed on the MSI Geforce GTX 1660 Ti Gaming X 6GB. even though it's a price premium it hav ehigher clock speeds and the cooler is more efficient from what i found digging around

Just get the cheapest 1660 Ti... no need for the higher clock speeds.

 

A Vega 56 is also a good option FYI.

It's not a risk. GPUs don't easily die like that.

 

Most mining cards have actually been treated better than gaming cards, since they're usually undervolted....

In other words........ No good reason other than the used factor.

 

Mining is in many ways less intensive than what many people think. Gaming is just as demanding workload, so the fact mining cards have a bad rep because mining makes them fantastic deals.

it's alright. Not as s*** as the older ones since the "cheapest of the bunch" status is replaced by the Ventus, and that's quite bad in fan noise (especially the high pitch).

That's the problem. You would never be able to know if they're simply used, or excessively mined 24/7. I don't know how many times you want me to say this, but...you regard mined cards as an opportunity, others like myself wouldn't be comfortable with such purchases
