Apply thermal paste on Wraith Prism?

Brilew

So, I heard the Wraith prism comes with thermal paste applied already. I have some arctic silver thermal paste over here. Should I apply my arctic silver anyway or just install it without my thermal paste?

don't add 2 layers of thermal paste. I recommend removing the preapplied paste and applying the arctic. The preapplied stuff hardens and sticks to the cpu.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

sometimes the preapplied paste comes a bit hard, if you touch it and doesnt feel wet and soft, clean it and put the artic silver, a small amount, keep in mind how much came in the heatsink is even too much, dont waste your thermal paste, rice grain or a bit bigger amount is just fine

cm is cooler master i believe

Yeah, that is quite a big problem with amd stock coolers. If you don't heat the cooler before removing it, it rips out the cpu in the process.

So you either have to run a stresstest before demounting, or just apply a different thermal paste.

I can say that the preapplied stuff on my wraith prism was rock hard, it was pretty hard to remove.

But wraith spire RGB (r7 1700) was fine.

Always use a nice aftermarket paste MX4, NT-H1, Silver, Thermal Grizzly

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂

Premium paste is just better. While there aren't difference between premium stuffs, they can be noticeably better than pre-applied.

There really won't be any worthy difference, but if you want to use the aftermarket paste you have just clean the pre-applied one and that's it.
