Ya know I see you often upgrading and improving your media group backup capabilities.  I like to back stuff up however im  horrible at it and often have just files and folders in random duplicate across lots of drives because I end up backing up last minute.  Maybe do a video on how to clean up the mess and start down the road of proper backup.  And also how to pick and rank items that will automatically be backed up down the road.

I have had this Question for a while... My school where i"go and kinda work" And We use Chromebooks (I use my Personal laptop because I'm not a celeron slave...)

 

But why do schools use them so Much?

How would a school sys admin feel about a reward scheme for finding weaknesses etc? Certainly would be a good for education purposes...

Because of the fact that they are cheap and relatively cheap to repair due to cheap parts being used in Chromebooks and also they are quite durable while I have used them so drops won't cause a lot of damage and also it is easy to have G-Suite instead of what Windows offers.

Schools have some of the device damaged percentages, mainly because you can't trust kids and young adults with expensive equipment. 600+ students for 180 days at 6 or so hours a day (plus some districts have the students take the device home) racks up to a lot of repairs, broken keys from kids trying to re-arrange the keyboard keys to spell body parts or curse words. Food and gum baked onto the device. Busted corners and screens from devices being dropped when a desk was bumped or having been smashed between several text books within a backpack. Chromebooks are cheap and work.

I am a student and highly dislike Apple and yet I have an Ipad for note taking etc. It was simply cheaper and better than competing products.

Cheap in bulk, "idiot proof" since you can't really screw them up with malware, plus being easy to fix or replace. It's also super easy to lock basic users out of pretty much any customization, with no real bypass.

so, i currently do IT for a school district.

 

chromebooks are cheap, easy to replace, easy to get fixed if broken, easy to manage (our domain accounts are linked to google accounts), and easy to lock down.   you cant install anything on it, so students cant fuck them up with stupid shit(we have students installing fortnite and other shit on some of the normal windows computers).

 

not to mention if there is a software issue its fixed with a 5 minute wipe that the teacher can do without me either driving out to the school, or even having to be on the phone.

with a windows computer, that means a 2 hour re-image that requires me to actually go out to the school.(i spend my time and the district office)

 

 

and honestly, all the students need access to, is Google Docs, and normal web browsing.   chromebooks are perfect for that

When you can pick up five or six Dell or HP Chromebooks for the cost of a business-grade laptop with warranty to cover a 5-year life-cycle, and the students can do most everything they need to on a Chromebook, it's hard to beat.

Bought a virtual warranty for my virtual machine. Cost me virtually nothing!

They are cheap, you can manage them easily, you can't run x86 programs, viruses are kept to a minimum
