8GB Ram vs. 16GB...What's Enough?

so i'm getting a new budget PC...Ryzen 5 2400G, Rx 570 4GB...But i Really don't know how much Ram should i get...i saw people benchmarking both and the difference was like 3 frames....but i feel worried about the future....so is the 8GB Futureproof?

8gb? no. 16gb, yes.

8gb you can run game only. Future games won't be enough.
16gb you can run game + browsing internet or streaming.

Do not get a Ryzen 5 2400G if you're buying a dedicated graphics card. An Ryzen 5 1600 costs about the same but offers two more cores and utilizes the RX 570 way better.

I'm currently only using 4gb as one of the module isn't working. With only chrome running I usually get 80-90% of RAM usage (4-10 tabs). That means there's only around 4gb of space left on the other stick, and that would be for the games, steam, discord, and other apps.

So I would say get 16gb, it would be better for gaming as well since 8gb is less stable for game performance.

16GB's for gaming. If you are really tight for cash get 1x8GB and upgrade later, if you aren't and want value get 16GB.

Agree, don't force yourself into getting dual channel, it's not worth it. Capacity is more important.

Enough for what?

Nothing is future proof and thinking like this only leads to wasted money. If you don't know what you need get 8gb (2x4) and if you find you need more just add 8 more later... also if you're getting a dedicated graphics card don't get an APU.

I thought it would be nice to have like an extra gpu so if anything bad happened to the Deticated Gpu i'd use the Integrated Gpu

Not a bad way of thinking, but the thing is - the 2400G with its 4 cores 8 threads has got some issues in some modern-day games and in those it would bottleneck the RX 570.

And the RX 570 will have a warranty if anything happens. Or you could get a cheap card, maybe even lend some, if anything happens to the main one.

You're better off getting some old used card for $20, after all it's just an emergency backup.

16GB is more than enough for Streaming+Gaming.
But 16GB is low for production, even for super basic things like After Effects or Photoshop.

Wouldn’t game on 8 but I only tried it single channel. Ram is cheap again so no reason not to do 16.

I'm using 15.6GB on my Win 10 laptop right now, just running "basic" stuff no photoshop or games or whatever.  It's not a super accurate number because Windows since Vista will tend to use what you have for caching.  Out of 32.  8 is kinda too cramped nowadays.
