RX 470 vs RX 5700 XT

ukyo13

I currently have a Sapphire RX 470 Nitro+ 4GB and my PC is hooked up to a Zowie XL2411 144hz Monitor.

I might eventually upgrade it to a 1440p monitor, so I was thinking my RX 470 might not be able to handle that resolution.

Would upgrading to a RX 5700 XT be worthwhile? Or should I just wait for a stronger graphics card?

I don't exactly need ray tracing or any of Nvidia's gimmicks so I'm not too particular about choosing an RTX card over an AMD card.

Thanks

Grab the RX570 for 1080p gaming.  For 1440p with AA methods applied you need a RX 590 or a RTX 2070.

The RTX 2070 costs quite a bit more here in the Philippines, around $602, whereas the RX 5700 XT is only around $460.

The RX 590 is kind of tempting though since it's only around $330

Wait for the RX 5700 with custom coolers and then decide

No, I wouldn't buy the RX 590.

You may be able to buy a Vega56 8 GB at discounted prices... amazon has them for 310$: https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-11276-02-40G-Radeon-Pulse-Graphics/dp/B07BGZNTQJ/

There's a Gigabyte model for 280$ : https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Gaming-Graphic-GV-RXVEGA56GAMING/dp/B079LT39Z7/

Should be better performance than RX 590.

If you’re looking at 1440. I’d really consider the 5700XT. It’s going to do much better over the next years

There doesn't seem to be any listing of Vega56 here in the Philippines. And I pretty much do plan on waiting for custom coolers to release for the RX 5700 XT, I'm very much aware of how bad blower style coolers are.

Looks like the 5700XT is a worthwhile upgrade then. I'm going to have to stick with the RX 470 for now until custom coolers come out though.
