DP and hdmi not working together

I bought an RTX 2070 super GPU and it has 3x DP and one hdmi but it won’t let me use two monitors at the same time. When i plug in the hdmi the screen turns but when i plug in DP in the other monitor the hdmi looses signal. What can i do to fix this? Do i need an hdmi to DP cable

You click "windows" and "P" key at the same time, and then choose the "extend" option.
