What CPU, motherboard and RAM should I buy?

XR6

Hi, I've recently started to notice my PC is starting to show its age, it's very slow and the performance just isn't good enough anymore.

I've decided that I want to upgrade to something newer. My budget is 400 GBP for CPU, motherboard and RAM (I've already decided on the rest of the parts).

I use my PC for gaming (1080p, Ultra settings), 3D modeling, virtual machines and web browsing.

I'm fine with buying used and I don't have any brand preference.

Thanks in advance :)

I chose the MSI board there for the flashback feature (flash your BIOS without a CPU), but if you already have a last gen Ryzen, I'd go with the Asrock Pro4 instead for cheaper.

Oops, I just noticed you posted in pounds, not dollars. Here's an update for UK pricing:

Unfortunately the RAM is a little pricier over there.

It would be helpful if you listed the parts that you have already decided on. As it stands we have no idea if you need an ATX, mATX, or mini-ITX motherboard. Nor do we know the model gpu that has to be matched with an appropriate cpu. Etc.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
