GS65 VS RB15 VS ASUSRG

Hello Community,

In january this year, I purchased MSI GS65 STealth with 1060. Soon, I started having issues with GPU. Sent it back to MSI and it got fixed, however Battery indicator is still not working. Complained to Microsoft Store where I bought it from and they agreed to exchange it. Here are my options:

1) Razer Blade 15 -Intel Core i7- 9750H 6 Core, GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, 15.6" FHD 1080p 240Hz, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD - Have to add $1000

2)ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Ultra Slim Gaming PC Laptop, 15.6” 144Hz IPS Type, Intel Core i7-8750H CPU, GeForce GTX 1060 MAXQ, 16GB DDR4, 512GB PCIe SSD - Same Price

3) MSI p65 Modern - Same Price

Or keep my MSI, because Battery indicator is not really an issue?

Thanks.

I game... I edit... I work...

And yet there is no perfect laptop for all mentioned above in a small, thin and light form factor...

1060 Max-Q will be slower than standard 1060 mobile

I heard it's a driver issue (in Windows)? The one on mine also bugs out and then comes back once in a while, not that it matters to me since I never have it unplugged so long that it could run out of power.

Nah standard 1060 is still faster. I'd say just stick to the GS65.

Thanks!!! So I assume you also have GS65? Do you also have the battery indicator problem? Sometimes it is there but very dim But most of the times it is not. Also my screen touches the trackpad when I close the lid to use it on the external screen... I have to disable trackpad every time I wanna use the ext screen :(

No mine's an HP Omen 17 Gen 3. Oh then I'm referencing the battery indicator in Windows, not an actual LED I think you're describing. Mine sometimes says it failed to detect a battery even though I'm running it unplugged :P this way I know it's just software bugging out and not hardware since the BIOS knows what its doing still.

trackpad is either a design flaw for the entire series or just your particular unit. Just replace the unit with another one?

That's the problem... MSI doesn't want to replace it... Microsoft doesn't have this model anymore in stock... LOL Thanks for your help anyways!

Then I vote for Asus. If in your country MSI sucks, dont go there. I wont go Razer either for any reason, unless I get paid a decent amount of money for it.

I will try to sell my GS65 to someone who doesn't mind these bugs... And get an Acer Helios 300 (2019) :)
