Not true, you can game plenty if you just get your work done before you play

You dont have to do anything as a man. Dont care what societies tell you, live an enjoyable and meaningful life, whatever that means to you

Self regulation is an important life skill.  Start developing it now.  Hold yourself accountable to your time limit.

A better skill you can develop, as mentioned already in this thread, at the same time is Personal Accountability.  Its up to you, no software, no mom, no anything will make you stop but some self control and discipline.  As I get older and older I wish I would have honed those skills earlier an earlier.

At this point, I have to ask OP - do you blame everyone else for anything and everything you do?  That's part of the problem.

Every day my alarm goes off I don't want to get out of bed at 4 a.m. and start my 12-16 hour day of working and then getting my other responsibilities taken care of, but guess what - I have a choice.  Not do it, or everytime my feet hit the floor (cliché) the Devil says" OH shit, hes awake".  I choose the latter.

To ensure I don't miss that 4 a.m. start, I have to turn my PC off by 10pm.  I can choose not to, but that is against the goal.

So either: REDEFINE YOUR GOALS to what you realistically are willing to do, or admit that you don't really want to do those "societal expectations" and suffer the consequences in your life for it.

Or just DO MORE.  Seal training teaches you that the average human wants to give up at 40% exertion.  You still have 60% more to give, or be lazy, up to you.

Get a 9-5 job which would force you to go to work each day.

When you get home you can enjoy your free time until you have to sleep again.

You will also earn money to spend on things like a better computer.

But like many others said: self control.

You can have all the responsibility in the world and still be lazy if you dont care.

You actually have MULTIPLE people telling you the same thing, probably just what your Parents said, but like you did with them you don't want to listen to us either.

At some point, your life will be on fire and you continually dumping kerosene on yourself will continue until...guess what...you decide to change.

Throw away your PC, you have no self control.

When I got thrown in jail for being a drug dealer, I had to make a choice.  Do I want to be here often or more, or not.

I got out later, moved to BFE (Butt Fucking Egypt = in the middle of nowhere), threw my cellphone in the Missouri river and left that life behind.  I stayed 1 year away from anyone I used to hang with, because hanging with them would lead me down the wrong path.  Because I made a choice - not to end up in jail for this type of behaviors.

I could have made a different choice and life would suck right now for me, of this I am certain.

The advice being given is, learn some self control.  You don't have any, or don't want any - so the next logical step - REMOVE THE THINGS YOU CANNOT CONTROL.

I used to be obese.  These days, Ice Cream, sweets, etc do not enter my house.  Cause I WILL eat all of the things.  My self control sucks in that department, so instead I do not dangle any form of enticement in front of my face or guess what - obesity.

Throw away your PC, Im sure you have a phone which will take enough of your time as well.

Oh, and when you are bored - go find something that makes you money - sets you up for a nice life in the future if you are smart with it.

You can control your addictions.  I always call BS on this, because in the end, right before that needle enters a heroin addicts arm - he has made a conscience choice whether he AGREES with that or not.

EDIT - being an addict to your PC is nothing like being a real addict.  I am addicted to my PC, and I have smoked Crack before.  CRACK is a problem, PC is not.

My boyfriend suffers from severe gaming addiction and if I learned something after years and years of so many fights about it... he failing college and later losing his job all just so he can game from 8pm to 8am and sleep the rest of the day is that unless your family seriously intervenes on the matter nothing you do will change things.

I tried to help him get over it every way I could and he honestly tried hard on given moments but the addiction always ends up speaking louder and since his parents are passive and permissive that instead of taking him to a psychologist they'll award him another gaming console (he has all consoles there is all gifted from parents) just for been a good kid(he's an 'adult' already) who doesn't do drugs.

So yes, without professional follow up forced by those around you, it's unlikely that you'll overcome a real case of addiction/dependency.

Thank you for sharing this. I broke my fully working iphone 6 because of a certain addiction which was causing issues. I have a 10$ call/sms phone now.

You are absolutely right, I am in control.

Can we take this conversation on discord or something instead if you don't mind?

Appreciate that you are sharing.

I need to learn to live with the pc, not run from it. :/

At work atm doing the things I don't want to lol

Perhaps later tonight I will message you.  I have addiction problems like a lot of people.  To beat them I have to remove them, because I recognize I lack self control.
