When will AMD slash prices of older gen CPU

It has been a little over a week since the Zen 2 release with great prices.  More then great actually;  simply amazing compared to Intel.  Anyhow I want to buy a build for my brother.  Im stuck on the 2700 for 199 US.  2700x at 250 is worth the extra 50 bucks ?  Also when are they slashing prices of the older stuff.  A 2700x at 200 and a 2700 at 170 US would be great.  The rest of the stuff is already cheap and what not.  How long should I wait ?  Should I give him a summer rig or wait until after summer ?  I just want to pull the trigger once I see the 2700 or 2700x has dropped prices.  Im just waiting on this as RAM and MOBO is simple, not expensive at all.

I apologize.  I made a mistake.  I was searching for the thread I believe I made and couldn't find it for the life of me.  So since Im in the buying blocks right now I thought I post this and hope its not a double post.  It turned out to be.  I am sorry for that.  This is isolated.  My posting habits are excellent as of late.  Or as of this incident.  I apologize to you Den-Fi and to aisle9 and to all members.  Im stupid, sh*T I saw the thread, damn my mind is going whack I wasn't sure I had made that thread.  From now on I will go to my page to see the threads I made.  Sorry again, no biggie tho.. simple mistake.

Wow that is sweet.  I don't know the performance difference between a 2700 and a 2700x.  Just 100Mhz more.  Hey fasauceome which do you suggest;  also my brother has a 570 8GB if it matters.  He also does photoshop and premiere as means for his business.  I will wait until prime day deal.  Thanks much my friend.  I just simply do not want to spend more then 200 bucks on the CPU... Then 115 for mobo and 70 bucks for 16GB ram and a 550w PSU and a case and the total is like about 440 US dollar.

Premier timeline scrubbing and Photoshop both like single threaded performance a lot, a Ryzen 5 3600 is what I'd pick personally. A balance between lots of cores and good speed.

You may want to ask him if he wants the upgrade.  If it were me, I'd like to plan for an upgrade and get a PC ready, especially if it's for work.  And to that point, can't he afford his own CPU if it's for business?

 

Sure you're being nice but you're forcing him to upgrade his system and not everyone wants to do that just cuz.

Ya hes my cousin actually but were blood brothers.  He currently has a Core 2 Quad at 2.6Ghz and 8GB RAM.

Just do it, it's not going to come down any further for a while. Don't wait months to save 20 bucks
