The place is starting to get a little crowded inside. Maybe I should mount hdds on top of DVDs.

Everything needs to be sanded. Also i need shorter screws.

Update 14

I have assembled the mb tray and back panel. And finally mounted everything in the casing.

Surprise, suprise, It don't fit :P i/o back plate is too high and top panel can't be slide on place.

So i had to lower the rails by 1cm.

IMG_20190809_163328r.thumb.jpg.a760f24cd20f5d6cb2359503e4c43ab3.jpgIMG_20190809_163520r.thumb.jpg.e59dba92ffae57b1ef2a98e79bb67560.jpg

And cut a few mm from the top.

IMG_20190809_164215r.thumb.jpg.1ff02bcd87a1bbc7309ef7f9e5853298.jpg

Because back plate is too high original plan didn't work out, so it had to be changed.

I glued filler strip and cut off the corner.

IMG_20190809_183054r.thumb.jpg.2e3edb114572276f56f673f84d6bde04.jpg

Unfortunately, there is no space at the back for the lock now. So I think that place him at the top. Or I will abandon this idea. IDK.

IMG_20190809_183449r.thumb.jpg.76c8fb0b8ee7a47a3137bcb425a9d9bf.jpg

This part must be cut out and redone. It's glued crooked and is too narrow.

IMG_20190809_193939r.thumb.jpg.d95eaacdcc23aef98c22e981bcbb19d9.jpg

These corners are only temporary and they aren't even attached.  But I think I should make a new ones and mount them, just to keep everything perpendicular.

Cutting holes in mobo tray for all the cables.

Fortunately I had straight bit that can be used as a drill. Just a cheap no-brand 16mm bit that i once bought (cause why not) at a hardware store.

I guess "Made in China" sounds badso let's write "Made in PRC" instead.

FYI, PRC stands for People's Republic of China, the official name for mainland China. The use of PRC prevents confusion with ROC (Republic of China) which is on the island of Taiwan.

Update 16

I plan to install a few strips from below to minimize the risk of wood warping.

I cut 4 groves to increase the gluing surface  and reduce the overall thickness.

IMG_20190812_173224.thumb.jpg.fc4516c5e474f09a147e9288eb50d338.jpg

I hope this helps with warping.

I use wood screws and glue for assembly and dowels to hide the screw holes.

Next day

5,25" cover plate.

Just a simple plate to cover one 5,25"slot. Cause i will use only one drive.

I wasted an hour playing with pcb board. In the end i just "glue shit out of bution". Cause f*** it. In hindsight i just should use metal buttons, similars to power button.

I put two layers on the front panel and one on the rest of the case so far.

After three weeks, I still don't have a motherboard.

That's the way it is, after you spend your money no one care and you can go fu... yourself.

You can try a couple things. Put a piece of acrylic in front of the leds and frost it. Or paint the acrylic white. You can also sand the leds down a little, or spray them with a frost.

This build is gorgeous! can't wait to see it done!

I don't know what I'm doing, and you can't stop me!

I also made few simple cable holders.

I "borrowed" DVD from another computer (family)  because mine doesn't read disc.

I took a photo from the front but it was "damaged" just like three others :(

The psu is suspended a few millimeters in the air  so I added a piece of 4mm wood  for support.

One plus that you can't see it :)I also made wooden holder for that conector. I hope this will work without any problems.

Masking plate.

If I started doing this project now I would do one thing differently.

I would add a shelf under the motherboard tray for hdd and psu. So that everything can be pulled out of the case together. It would be much more convenient and would simplify cable management.

Only two things remain to be done. Top panel backlight. And one cable  to connect all the lighting to the PSU.

Unfortunately I don't have male sata power connector so i have to use molex instead.

EDIT: If you ask yourself a question " why he need esata in 2019r?"The answer is simple

I have old external (sata/USB2.0) hdd enclosure.

Putting everything together was a real pain in the ass. PSU cables are quite stiff, heat shrink tubing  are very long and I think they filled them with some glue. So bending the cables was practically impossible, and I didn't want to cut and redone everything. The hardest part was connecting cpu power.

I have a real mess under the tray.

I thought about using RGB stripes instead of blue Leds. Fortunately, i used leds. They give a very nice blue glow.

I need a new desk. For now it is still in "raw version"  with leaves and roots ^^.
