Are the Gigabyte AORUS RTX 2070 SUPER Cards so bad?

Are they really so bad? Is it really worth cancelling my card I've purchased and opting for and MSI Card or such instead? Surely Gigabyte isn't selling such a faulty card

what makes you think they're bad?

Not sure what gave you the impression for those cards to be bad ... they are what you expect from 2070 Super lineup. Under load it does keep temps under 65°C. As for performance ... it's the same as any other 2070 S ... so no, they are not bad.

I've seen a lot of reviews online of people saying they don't honor their warranties... not sure if this is the case or not.

Artifacting is the result of a faulty unit (meaning the universal 2070 hardware). Not of a cooling system.

 

AORUS cards, generally speaking are pretty good... You may be referring to advice to avoid the Gigabyte coolers on Vega series cards?

Those are just typical hardware failures just like any other line of hardware. It has nothing to do with being an Aorus unit. Just because a handful of people on the Internet went on a rant about it doesn't mean it's widespread, nor is it an issue with any specific vendor or model.

Fan issue idk, artifact is just a thing for all Nvidia cards with GDDR6

Alright thanks for easing my mind everyone. I guess I just got a little worried after I ordered the card and then only saw people complaining after. You've made me sure as eggs again! Cheers :)

Absolute worst case, you're thermal throttling. You can likely get a refund from the retailer.

If it's not a great cooler, it may just get a bit loud and not be overclock-worthy.

Best case.... You've got a great card! AORUS series gear is usually pretty high grade. Their MOBOs rule.

What would be a good indicator of thermal throttling? Guessing just keeping an eye on temps?

You've gotta hit really high temps to throttle. A good indicator would be 100+ temps and serious performance loss lol.
