Is kalih brown good for first mech?

Recommended Posts

I can buy used Patriot V760 kalih brown but I read that kalih brown are really bad, too much inconsistency and really bad quality control. Is that true? Maybe it is better to wait for some better offer? I am aiming for cherry mx brown because tactile feedback and that they are more silent than blue.

I have an outemu blue board and unfortunately I fell as though the switches are too inconsistent for it too feel like a true mechanical keyboard. I guess it depends onn what u want from your board.

It's fine, not worse than cherry at least, I have switch tester with kailh browns, and a board with cherry mx brown, I like kailh version more, they are smoother than cherry.

I've used cherry browns and outemu browns. Never tried kailh though but browns should be a good middle ground when first getting into the mechanical keyboard scene. I started with Outemu blue switches and they're great for a while then you start getting annoyed with the clicks and the heavier actuation. Reds are too light for me and I can't type on them as well. So basically I've stuck with the tactile non-clicky segment of mechanical switches for the most part.

Again, as thousands have reiterated, it all boils down to personal preference.

cherry brown to me coming from a blue has no little to no tactility. even blues don't feel that tactile but  has enough to feel. rather than tactile brown feel like scratchy red. if you want a tactile switch I would reccomend looking elsewhere and not cherry or cherry clones

There are a lot of kailh brown variations and batches ranging from absolute shit to pretty good, box browns are probably the best and the PG1511 browns are probably the worst

You really need to try the switches for yourself. Buy a switch tester, see which one you like.

No amount of research is going to give you the answers you need. You have to try them.
