32Gb 3000Mhz OR 16Gb 3600Mhz for R5 3600?

Hey! I was wondering, should I go for 32Gb of 3000Mhz RGB Trident Z RAM for 150Euro or 16Gb of 3600Mhz RAM for 120Euro?

Apparently the new ryzen prefers ram clocked at 3600mhz, so that will be my choice

if you dont know, then the answer is you dont need it. 16 GB 3600 MHZ CL 16 or go for 3200 MHZ CL 14 Bdie

Ryzen processors prefer higher frequency memory, and 3600 Mhz is the optimum frequency for 3rd generation. However, it's not so critical to use such memory, the performance loss is not so huge that you really need 3600 Mhz memory.

If you use applications that use A LOT of memory and you're often getting close or exceeding 16 GB of memory usage, then by all means, it makes sense to buy the 32 GB kit of 3000 Mhz memory.

If you don't, if you only need for games and all that, you COULD buy 3600 Mhz memory but again, it's not a "must have". However, you could also stick to 3000 Mhz memory and 16 GB of memory and put the 20-50 euro you save into the next step up in the video card department, and you'd get more gaming performance.  So it depends on your total budget.

 

Basically, think of it like this: if 2666 Mhz is 100% performance (base) then 28xx Mhz is 103% , 3000 is 104% , 3200 is 106% and 3600 is 107-108%  --- it's a tiny performance increase pretty much linear with the frequency increase, but 3000 Mhz is somewhere above the half of that performance boost.

16GB really isn't that much. I have around 30 tabs in chrome opened regularly plus photoshop and that pretty much drained all of them.

Just done a quick test.I have 40 tabs open in Chrome, 24 images open in Paint Shop Pro, watching a 4k video in MPC-BE, and have several files downloading in via download manager.

 

 

Still plenty of ram free, so I opened another 20 Tabs, and another 20 images

 

 

And again, another 20 tabs, and another 20 images.

 

 

I'm gunna say 16GB should still be more then enough for most users.
