New GPU for bottlenecked PC

fluffymarksman

I have a badly bottle-necked pc and therefor looking for a new GPU. I have around 700 usd. I'm kinda interested in the new RTX 2070 Super cards. Although I am not sure if its the best for the system I currently have.

Any suggestions?

PC Specs:

Ryzen 7 2700X

GTX 1050 TI Expedition OC

16GB DDR4 3200Mhz Corsair Vengance

Asus Prime X370-Pro

Cooler Master Masterwatt Lite 700

I think a 2070 super with a Ryzen 7 2700x would be a fine combo. The CPU may bottleneck a bit but I don't think it would be horrible.

I'd recommend the RX 5700XT since it's pretty much as powerful as the RTX 2070 Super (while being $100 cheaper( unless you really want ray tracing. You could also wait for the RTX 2080 Super since it's supposed launch at $700

I can tell ya, ray tracing is pretty dope. Is it worth the extra money (although, the 2070 super makes it a very serious option now), thats very much up to the individual user.

Personally, I think its awesome. The extra eye candy and being on the bleeding edge of tech is always fun, and let me tell ya, Metro Exodus looks pretty dang good! Its 100% a viable option, although you can get similar FPS from team red without those fancy features while saving a few bucks. That said....... Nvidia drivers have historically been and still are better, and the AMD cards seem to run pretty insanely hot, and loud, although the noise level is usually fixed via buying an aftermarket card with a not crap cooler on it.

I'm leaning more towards Nvidia's RTX 2070 Super. I feel like RX 5700XT isn't for me since I will probably need Nvidia cuda cores for AI. I don't know if I can afford the RTX 2080 Super as normally the video cards are a lot more expensive in norway then what they are priced at in the US.
