Should I upgrade my i7 7700 non K setup

Hi. I'm using an i7 7700 non K on MSI B250M MB with 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM, I have also a gigabyte GTX 1080ti card(I know it is weird  but I got lucky and when my 980ti burned out as part of warranty I received 1080ti). I didn't upgrade my monitor, it is still 1080p so I play with V-sync 60fps. New Ryzen chips premiere and some decent Intel prices discount got me thinking should I upgrade my setup but without switching to 1440p, is there any benefit for me with cpu upgrade? I consider upgrading to Ryzen 3700x or i7 9700k. I use my computer only for gaming. I watched multiple comparison videos but I want to know what do you think?

I wouldnt touch your cpu before a better display

1080p 60hz is sad for a 1080ti

Get a 144Hz monitor and find out if your CPU is up to the task still (it probably is)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

What kind of monitor are you going to get?

1440p at 60hz or 144hz?

If you're still going to play at 60hz your chip will be fine.

Either way get a new monitor for the sake of your gpu getting to stretch it's legs.

So the only thing I should do is buying a new 1440p monitor.

Your CPU will most likely be just fine at 1440p. You should definately buy a new monitor though.

I bought a 1440p monitor, games do look better but I also noticed a frame drop in Metro Exodus. Should I update my i7 7700 to Ryzen 7 3700X or i7 9700k? Or it is better to not bother myself and stick with current processor? It is strictly for gaming.

Personally I'd wait out until the next Intel or Ryzen 4000.

Adjust your settings appropriately until then.

your 60hz monitor will only allow you to run 60 fps max.

I can assure you that you are getting 60 fps in games at 1080p.

Llike others have said, there is no point upgrading your cpu until you upgrade your monitor

Then you have no reason to ditch the i7 7700 yet if all you do is game.
