Alot of cyberbullies don't bully people in real life because it's harderto get away with. Also that becomes a bullying issue not a cyber bully issue. The cyber part is completely avoidable and doesn't need to be addressed tbh.

That’s a lie as bullying has existed way before the internet has. It’s easy to dismiss something non physical but it’s just as real as in person. If anything the weakness is from the bully and some insecurities or parental issues

I guess some of you guys haven't actually seen the results of bullying.  Whether you like it or not, Facebook and Instagram are core parts of society in younger generations now.  Turning those off is as socially isolating as being a spastic in a wheel chair.   Given cyber bullying has resulted in suicide, because the target does not always know the perpetrator, but the perpetrator has explicit knowledge of the victim (a very harrowing experience for the victim if you've ever seen it).

 

I'm all for this, it just reminds you the consequences of your actions without actually stopping you.    Bullies will be bullies, the internet has provided a way for them to be damaging (because it's not just words) and hide behind anonymity.  That need s to be addressed.

I honestly can't see how that is even possible. I mean if you require Instagram in order for you to communicate with your peers then you have a bigger problem. All of my friends used social media in high school and I didn't yet I wasn't left out. Also alot of social media has ways of blocking people from harassing you. Honestly I think young people are far better off without social media tbh because the statistics are very clear that it is detrimental to your health. I do believe the best solution to cyber bullying is to simply stop using social media.

The fact is people are a lot more loose with their words over the internet, and especially on social media. There are no repercussions. Moreover in this day and age workplaces use social media as tools, as well as online applications, you can't turn off the computer. This isn't 2005. As social media is more incorporated into the workplace, you would expect a company to monitor behavior in the workplace.

It's not essential, but neither is being able to hear or speak.  Once you start putting impediments into what is essential a large part of developmental communication in society you start to isolate from the per group.  And we are not talking about just Instagram, we are talking about bullying and harassment which crosses all social media platforms, which means the isolation is from all platforms not just one.

 

And yes I did just associate the importance of being able to socialize in mainstream society to being able to speak, it is very crucial in development.

The biggest problem with online bullying is that the bully in many cases knows the victim and has proven to the victim they know where they live, however all the victim knows is that some strange person on the internet knows which school they go to, where they live, which shops they like and they are going to kill them one day.  If that by itself isn't as scary as shit for victim that carries health repercussions then what about when a whole society is turned against them with lies making them a social leper who gets taunted every turn?

 

 

There is no room for bullying in my world.  If you won't say it to someones face then don't say it online.  It's sad we need AI to remind us that somethings are stupid.  And even sadder that some people are so entitled they think being a dickhead is normal and should be defended. 

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

In the past responsible parents used to teach their kids values. Sadly now we need an AI due to the lack of responsible parents.
