So how much did you boost your steam level?

D1Wolfgang

With the summer sale came the Starbound soda exploit. A few people went up ~ 100 levels. I only went from 6 to 50, so I have a nice blue circle ?

How much did you get yours to?

p.s. TEAM CORGI FTW

Btw, I don't condone malicious activity, and I don't mean to jeopardize my reputation, but it's just a number on a profile. I'm not sure if this is against the rules for condoning an exploit.  I just think it's funny how high some peoples' level is now :)

But you need to buy games to get max points.

I have over 18000 points(CS:GO achievements) but my max points only allow me to use 3400 points.

I've honestly forgotten that steam profiles have a "level" attached to them.

They're largely meaningless, much the same as achievements are (to me, at least.)

The Summer Sale was stupid this year and there were no good sales on any good games, so I didn't spend a single cent. That also means I didn't boost my level, either.

I saw a few games I wanted. I always see deals to CONSIDER, because I've never started a major franchise. So I always pander FO4 for example.

To be completely honest, I've not once looked at my, or anyone else's steam profile since trading cards and personalized background became a thing. Don't think i'm remotely close to filling the max number of people I can have on my FL.

I just went and looked. Apparently my profile level is 19. Honestly don't know how I got here, don't know what it means, and don't know what I'll do with it. My featured badges are from Borderlands 2, Metro 2033, and the Steam Christmas sales of 2012. My background is from Metro 2033 as well. Ironically, my profile is somewhat modern in a what's-old-is-new kind of way, with Exodus/Borderlands 3 coming about and a sale event going on, so there's that I guess :P

Yeah I know, I'm kidding.

But if you think about it: The biggest gaming platform, if the level had to do with progression or something, he's the #1 in Steam's eyes. and mine

I'm fairly certain the PlayStation Network still holds steam for the largest platform, though that's kind of splitting hairs :P

The 360 (possibly the Xbox one? I don't know, never used it) is (to my personal sphere of experience anyway) the platform where achievements had any "meaningful" reason to exist, and that's largely because it was displayed in a very quick view right alongside your gamertag. With Steam, that's not really a thing that I know of. You have to actively search out someone's profile to see their achievements (how many points they have?) and/or their steam level.

I forgot about console... I didn't put them in the same category as Steam, but I guess they should be. So, the question is, If let's say PS was the biggest PLATFORM, and you were on the bottom of that, would you still be above anyone on Steam, including the top player if it was the number 2 platform?

Does this make sense? I'm tired :P

I guess it would depend on if you value such things. Most people that I've seen discussing it, don't care all that much. It's a thing that exists, I'm sure at some level, it's a marketing gimmick, but I'm not one to compare my score to yours and deem that I'm better or worse. If you have fun collecting achievements, gamer score, trophies, steam profile level, or whatever flavor the might have, heck, go all in. Squeeze every bit of fun out of what you can. Life's too short to not enjoy the small things in life. My small things in life are almost certainly different from your small things. My small things might be your big things, vice versa.

I almost completely agree with ya'. There's sales on good games, you just gotta browse the depths of Steam rather than anything they got goin' on at the home page. What types of games do you play? I think I can find a few games for ya' that are around the price you're looking to pay.

I cared about the steam level until I reached that point.

Are these restrictions new, relative to steam's age? I don't ever remember encountering limited functionality based upon anything, and to be honest, I don't even know if profiles had a level attach to them when I created my account.

Agreed. I deeply browsed the different sections. I found a "Lovecraftian" tag that I'm into now. Playing Cultist Sim right now, from that. Also, a Shadow Of The Colossus meets LOZ: Breath of the Wild game called "Praey for the Gods"

Both worth a glance.
