LOL who correctly guessed that the label would be painted green?! O_O

sources Group 1: (DON'T PREORDER. I mean it's available to preorder, but you shouldn't because--)

UPDATE: amazon listings taken down

via: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nvidia-likely-unveils-geforce-rtx-super-lineup-on-july-2nd.html

so quick one, since announcement's imminent:

Quote

Videocardz/Amazon:

  • 2070 SUPER
    • base/boost: 1605/1770 MHz
      • vs 2080 Regular: 1515/1710 MHz
    • Core Config: 2560:184:64:40:320:40
[CUDA Shaders : Texture Mapping Units : Render Output Units : Streaming Multiprocessors : Tensor Cores : Raytracing Cores]
      • vs 2080 Regular: 2944:184:64:46:368:46
    • Memory Config: 8GB GDDR6 448Gb/s
      • ditto 2080 Regular
    • TDP: 215W
      • ditto 2080 Regular
    • SRP: $600 (Amazon placeholder) / $500 (Videocardz)
      • vs 2080 Regular: $700 AIB / $800 FE
    • SLI: Yes
  • 2060 SUPER
    • base/boost: 1470/1650 MHz
      • vs 2070 Regular: 1410/1620 MHz
    • Core Config: 2176:136:64:34:272:32
[CUDA Shaders : Texture Mapping Units : Render Output Units : Streaming Multiprocessors : Tensor Cores : Raytracing Cores]
      • vs 2070 Regular: 2304:144:64:36:288:36
    • Memory Config: 8GB GDDR6 448Gb/s
      • ditto 2070 Regular
    • TDP: 175W
      • ditto 2070 Regular
    • SRP: $500 (Amazon placeholder) / $400 (Videocardz)
      • vs 2070 Regular: $500 AIB / $600 FE

so the SUPERs are basically cut-down 2080 and 2070 parts respectively (not exactly, unless we get confirmation of the GPU part in a teardown). Somewhat similar to the 1080 and 1060 refresh the previous generation o_o

kinda great they're making this naming distinction now. SUPER clear. (LOL.)

EDIT: the 2070 SUPER has NVLink SLI fingers as well, so there's that.

no news of the 2080 SUPER yet, but it's safe to assume it's a cut-down 2080ti at this point ._.

EDIT: I just realised: there's the Quadro RTX 5000, which is what the RTX 2080 is cut from o_o. there might be a chance it'll be based on a fully-unlocked TU104 instead.

the advertised FP32 performance matches too, so I'd think it's very likely it's a Geforce version of the Quadro RTX 5000

once again, WAIT FOR REVIEWS

What's up with these being the same price?

oh, huh o_o SUPER didn't notice that. placeholder price? (although if there's definitely a price difference, how would amazon deal with the difference...?)

I really hope nobody buys these terrible new cards.

I think Nvidia would have done better to just offer price cuts to the 20 series instead of introducing this nonsense.

Edit; Also we can be sure now that the 5700 and 5700XT won't be getting price cuts unless they perform substantially worse than the SUPER series.

Also suddenly the 5700 and 5700XT prices don't look so bad......

SUPER close to the Titan RTX though o_o unless Nvidia pulls a Titan XP and drops a TU100 chip to upscale the Titan RTX

They could just rebrand the RTX 2080Ti as the RTX 2080Ti SUPER with 100MHz higher base and boost clocks for $100 extra and the Nvidia fanbois would still buy it anyways.

Edit: Also inb4 TItan RTX CEO Edition.

... come to think of it, i wonder how many people bought the 8086K and the 9900KS o_o

(more extreme example: the 2700X special edition)

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Titan RTX CEO Edition for like 10K each or more.

In a few years, we'll have the RGTX 9080 Ti Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious at this rate...

Adding in 'Super' to the lineup will make it hella confusing for newcomers.

Not only confusing, it's dumb. What's even "super" about these cards? They have a tiny performance bump based on compute units. And that's literally it.

These cards are SUPER unexciting

Bah, I'd be more interested in a 1650ti or something like that. 75-85w tdp and a nice performance boost ~15%.

.

I'd love to see low power, low budget cards, within compact sizes, lower profiles.. These cards don't get me interested at All.

Oh, so there's a 2060 replacement with 8gb vram at the same price as a 2060? Oh...there isn't. HOW MUCH? $500? Who are they trying to kid? Once again rumors that sounded reasonable have been thrown in the bin.  The 2060 Super has no right to be priced at $500.

Originally it was $350, then it was $425 (Something like that anyways)...and now it's $500. In other words, they could have redeemed themselves and sold more gpu's, and instead they've decided to basically create a 2060ti and 2070ti with a different naming scheme and a terrible price.

We didn't need a renamed 2060ti twice. That's what the 2070 was, and now we've got 2 2060ti's that aren't actually called 2060ti's. And we have a 2070ti (2070 Super) that was completely unnecessary. You can get a 2080 for just over that $600 mark that will offer pretty much the same performance. This launch could have been and should have been so much better. I'm an AMD lover, but looking at those realistic rumors, I was pleased with what Nvidia was planning. Instead they've just scrapped all that and screwed over what would have been a good release.

The only thing that we can say is actually decent is the RX 5700 (Non-XT). It's the only card that is even remotely reasonable on price/performance, and that ticks the 8gb box. And even that doesn't look like anything special. Both Navi and Super look like a disappointment.
