G-Sync on an AMD GPU?

Vectraat

I'm assuming G-Sync will never be compatible with an AMD GPU, or you won't be able to use FreeSync from a G-Sync monitor if you own an AMD GPU?

Nope. G-sync is proprietary and locked away to Nvidia.

Freesync or adaptive sync is open to everyone

I don't see why you would, in a way, go "backwards"

The up of having an AMD graphics chip was because of freesync. Freesync displays are cheaper than gsync ones and it works very well.

Yes because Gsync modules are Nvidia-specific (I think there's a better vocab for it but I'm not sure what is it)

In theory they could make monitors that can run Freesync instead when the GPU doesn't support Gsync, but I have never seen one yet

Well, there are G-Sync monitors that I prefer over the available FreeSync alternatives and I don't like the idea of being locked down to an Nvidia GPU. I'm kinda planning long-term here, and I could see myself ditching Nvidia for my next build, and if so, then it would be a mistake to buy an expensive G-Sync monitor right now.

Except for gsync monitors being higher quality.  I guarantee Mr. Chen just slaps a freesync compatible sticker on every piece of trash panel they put out.

Oh yeah, of course they're going to widespread it as much as they can, leading to that shitty nest of quality. But there are a lot of great freesync displays too.

Got any good FreeSync recommendations (that are G-Sync compatible) for:
24" 1080p / IPS / 144 Hz
Or
27" 1440p / IPS / 144 Hz?

For 1440 I would look at something like the VG271U or the XF270HU

1080p, you won't find anything in the 24" range, at least to my knowledge. 27" 1080p though you could look at the VG279Q

So these two then:

Are they G-Sync verified/compatible?

Yeah, I don't understand why companies are going with 27" over 24" for 1080p.

There's this one, but seems to be difficult to find where I'm at: LG 27GL850-B

Not sure if they're verified, but on a google sheet where people have been putting their experiences with each monitor, they work. The Asus display does have strobing effects though.

Mind providing a link to that sheet? ?
What Asus display? The 2x monitors you mention are Acer and the one I mentioned is LG.
