Headphones, speakers - what's your audio setup?

WildW_UK

I have a big old-fashioned stereo amplifier (receiver) on my desk that drives my headphones and some bookshelf speakers. It's big and bulky and sometimes I think about getting rid of it, but I don't know what else I would do.

I'm assuming that with modern 3D audio everyone games with headphones now. . . but does everyone still have weak little PC speakers with a headphone socket? Do you just use headphones plugged into the sound card? Where's your volume control? And how do you pipe your TV, other PCs and consoles into your headphones?

What's the modern normal for audio?

I use headphones cause I love in a house where I can't be blasting music. Plus headphones are just better for directional audio in games for a small budget. My setup is a topping d10----monoprice liquid spark---to a dt990 or a Sennheiser HD 58x. But pretty sure the modern normal is just a headset plugged in through usb. Or the Bose 5.1 suround sp Akers you buy at best buy. Or the Chinese ones from amazon

I use headphones for the voice chat and have game audio coming from the speakers.

I tried doing it all thru my headphones but never liked it that way.

Logitech G933

Mackie CR5BT

Then I usually have Amazon Music or Sirius XM playing thru my Denon/Mirage setup in the living room as well.  I like background noises.

I own a Yamaha LS9-32 and use the SB168ES and I have headphones patched into it. I also have Logitech G930s that I daily drive.

I guess there isnt really a "normal" anymore, some people use cheap logitech speakers, headphones, big horn loaded speakers, a surround setup, not really a norm anywhere.

Now, i use some uh pretty "high-end" stuff, came from a 15.2.5 home theater down to a pretty nice stereo speaker setup

Schiit yggdrasil dac (USB running from PC)

Mcintosh MA9000 integrated amplifier

B&W 800 D3/Focal sopra N2/Mcintosh XR100 speakers

Two SVS SB400 subwoofers or REL S/5 SHO subwoofers, not decided yet.

Maybe getting a Chord DAVE DAC in the far future, possibly some more older JBL or technics speakers.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
