Which Radeon for Linux + Blender ?

Hopefully there are some Blender Linux users that have tested these together ... After watching this vid Best GPU for Blender I'm wanting to go with the Pro Duo (Polaris) but after watching several reviews I'm not so sure. Recently the new iMac video with the Radeon Pro Vega II but also considering the Radeon VII.

What is your budget? AMD usually offers better performance on the low price points but if you have enough cash to burn nVidia will have alternatives that makes up for it.

So when we factor the price a Quadro RTX, 2080 Ti and the RTX TITAN / TITAN V all these cards are better at a premium cost while the Radeon 7 is not that behind performance wise, offers more VRAM than all but the RTX TITAN which can prove extremely handy depending on how big your workload becomes all while being by far the cheapest alternative.

 

It's up to you either want the best value, price-to-performance wise, or go all in after performance regardless of nVidia tax.

A R7 is around 599, 16g of vram and it has HBCC you can get even more vram alocated, for this price there is nothing on the market that can have the same vram.

Radeon has really good suport on drivers in Linux

If the Radeon VII is doing a workout while you're nearby you might want to also invest in good headphones or use water cooling. Mine makes a lot of noise... ( Still I wouldn't trade it in for something else though but I am thinking about water cooling )
