Windows 10 reset problem

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

So, I am selling my PC to get a new one. I reset it to erase all my data. Everything went smooth until it hit 10%, and it's been there for a couple of hours. Is that normal? I doubt it is, any fixes? Please?

Leave overnight just to be sure.  Windows can be weird like that.

Im thinking the same thing, and also, is this the first time you're trying to reset it?

No this is my third time, both times went by quick

If you had any personal data on that PC I'd recommend replacing the storage device, and simply slap a clean install of Windows on it. I very much doubt the reset functionality of Windows 10 properly erases your files to the point of being non-recoverable.

Not only does the replace and reinstall ensures people can't get to your files, chances are it's quicker, easier and no crap from Windows itself stayed behind.

Unless I was giving the system to family or a good friend, I'd either replace the storage devices, or perform a secure wipe followed by a clean install.
