The thing is the US has shown their cards, revealing that they are willing to essentially force US companies to adhere to the governments will, and for political gain. Therefore, the best move for huawei, and any other mobile phone firm outside of the US to be honest, to distance themselves from relying on US tech and develop their own alternatives. Even if the ban gets reverted within this year, I would highly doubt that huawei will go back to android permanently. At most I could see a temporary reverse back to the operating system, but in the long term they will definitely want to have their own os. Truthfully, I can see this simple move by the US to be pretty detrimental to their economy going forward as a lot of companies will want to distance themselves and become self substaining.

I can already see this as the turning point to more mobile OS coming to market.
