Automatically shorten long urls

Faisal A

When posting a long url maybe have an automatic shortner (like bit.ly or goo.gl) instead of having to manually click the link button

Or just something visual to hide middle parts. Link dhorteners can be dangerous, and easily misused. Which is why use of them without permission isn't allowed.

Those are only really needed in niche scenarios.  On the forum, you can easily set the displayed text to be different than the actual link.  For example:

some post

This allows saving space while allowing users to still see where the link is taking them before clicking.

However with that said, I haven't ever seen a crazy long link though that I can recall, so I'm not sure how necessary this really is.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

We don't want people to use shortened links, because you can't see where they go. As Ryan_Vickers mentioned, you can set the link text manually (using the link button in the editor), so I don't see any use for this.
