CPU’s for Photo/4K Video Editing???

I’m building a photo/video editing rig amd can’t decide between the i7-8700k or a Ryzen build. Any input would be great!

Intel is king for now, but wait until the Ryzen 3000 benchmarks drop. Should still be a slight edge for Intel in specific workloads, but AMD will be very close.

If you intend to use Adobe you might as well go i7 8700K already, it should still be a better choice than Ryzen given how Premiere Pro can use the iGPU for acceleration so well and Ring Bus still has it's merit for pure single core performance which Photoshop is extremely dependent.

 

You can still put a system with the 8700K that isn't bad priced and something like a Ryzen 5 3600X might still not completely outpace it on gaming and other aplications, we will know on July for sure.
