Computer newb here: 2 Nvidia GeForce 970’s, or 1 1080ti?

winterfate

I have a GTX 970(my cpu is a Ryzen 5 and I currently have 1 stick of 8gb DDR4 ram). Can the GTX 970 bridge with another GTX 970? If it CAN use an SLI bridge, are 2 GTX 970’s better than just one GTX 1080TI?

its not moer powerful than 1080ti, tho it will be able to play games at higher settings comparerd to 1 gtx 970. The 970 is still actually a pretty good card for gaming, as its almost as good as a 1060. Its Vr ready and got about 4 gb vram (yes ik bout that "only 3,5gb vram" thingy, but it still got 4gb on the board.)

Not even close, mate.

Ok, so I’m getting the vibe that a single 1080ti is the better choice. It is, however, a fair bit pricier. How much would I be able to get away selling my GTX 970 for to help make up the cost, and would anyone even buy it?

$100 at the best of times, even less if it's not a premium model like the MSI Gaming or Asus Strix. What 1080ti are you looking at?

Also watch your PSU, make sure the model's actually good.

Never ever go SLI, unless you're going overkill and getting 2 2080Ti's or something. 2 970s at 100% usage in game won't even give you 1080TI performance. If you're buying the 1080ti new, go for a 2080 instead(nvidia might be lowering 20 series price soon, but right now 10 series is expensive due to it not being manufactured anymore)
