best way to get os keys

I need to get a windows 10 key because im upgrading motherboard where should I get it? My activation settings says "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account" does that mean I dont need a new key?

I always get them from eBay for 5-10 euros. Never had issues.

Uhhh, I'm not sure about the rules on this but, if you want an OEM Key, aka no upgrades, Kinguin.com has some for cheap. and if you want a regular keys (you can upgrade and are just regular windows 10 keys), is /r/microsoftsoftwareswap

You should be fine if it says that.

I just go on ebay, sort by lowest price, middle click like the 10 lowest listings and look for a seller who has sold quite a few from that listing and has at least like 100 rep.

 

Usually they're UK sellers and around $2. I'm honestly more concerned with expensive sellers since if I risk $10 on a sketchy key and it's not good, I'm now out $10 and have to find something different. Where as at less than $2, if I have to try even a few sellers it's still cheap. I recommend that to everyone I know and so far it's been good.

 

I've also bought a couple computers with Windows 7 Pro keys on the side, if you have any of those on laptops or something they generally activate into Windows 10 Pro.

I don't exactly know the process for migrating licenses and such, but sometimes when you swap hardware your windows key is fine

I've had machines deactivate and refuse to activate after minor hardware swaps on a linked account but then 8 months later after dismantling it, assemble only that motherboard with literally every single part being different and it activates automatically.

 

Sometimes you also have to go in and manage what computers are linked to the account if you swap hardware or reinstall windows too much. That is theoretically how it should work though lol.

OEM in most laptops at least put security chips that contain the key. Windows should pick that up automatically. like it happened to @Slayer3032 . This practice was picked up after the windows stickers were phased out.

I haven't personally owned a laptop with anything newer than DDR2 and the board that did that was a non-UEFI AM3 socket GA-MA770T-UD3P
