photo editing laptop ?

Photo editing you don't need that much horsepower, but you need:

- a very good screen with the most acurate colors, IPS screen is recommended. You can also have a so so screen, but add another external monitor with the best colors.

- big rams (16gb) if you need to edit huge photos with many layers. If not, then 8gb is enough.

- 4 cores minimum, dual cores are on its way out

i was going to post this for photography section since am a photographer and i was looking in to a laptop to edit photos but how is this ok if 8 gb is for editing if its recommended

What's your budget and what software do you use for photo editing? I'm also assuming your located in the states.

its not that i need to play games am happy with psn so gaming is covered thanks

Let us know your budget, location, if you intend to travel a lot with the laptop.

 

In general look for 4 cores, IPS screen, 8-16GB RAM, recommend 16GB - Lightroom + Chrome can easily saturate even that when building previews - at least 250GB SSD, and, you know, a card reader :) or a suitable dongle.

Yeah, but that 2 cores intel i5 turns me off. This is 2019, even a cheap ass laptops has 4 cores.
