BenQ XL2420T + GTX 1660Ti 120Hz question

Khybre-

Hi there.
First post on here after lurking for a while.

I'm picking up a BenQ XL2420T later this afternoon for a decent £70 with all the 3d peripherals.
The issue that I'm worried about is being able to get the 120Hz with my card. The monitor only has DVI, VGA and HDMI where my card uses HDMI and DisplayPort.

I've been googling rather furiously over the past hour but I can't seem to find a solid answer. I did check the pinned adapter thread but the adapters that I thought I would need only entertain 60Hz.

Can anyone give me some info on whether it's worth going for and trying to get 120Hz or shall I wait and buy a newer monitor?

Cheers.

Edit: From looking at user manuals it would appear that the monitor also has a DisplayPort connection. Would DP - DP support 120Hz?

To answer your question:

Yes Display Port does support 1080p 120Hz. So you would be able to run it at 120.

My personal opinion:

It's a TN panel which I've never been very happy with. I would look for a VA or IPS monitor.

But yes, this will give you the performance you are expecting when connected with a DP cable

Thanks Falco.

Yeah, I know its a TN panel and for the price, I'm happy with that. I'm currently using an IPS but only a 22"
I'll be swapping that as my 2nd monitor which I have most of my content on and this will only be for games.
