Did the search start menu in 1903 change?

Chunchunmaru_

After I try to search something in the start menu, instead of the menu window to be on the left, seems to be shifted slightly to the right.
I don't know if that's a bug or what? As you can see, it begins right after the windows icon. Isn't it supposed to be pinned to the left?

Yeah one of the biggest changes on 1903 is regarding the search functionality, ditching cortana integration, reworking the old Windows Search Bar mechanics and what not... they worked a lot on it so don't be surprise it's different.

Reason why I'm holding on 1903 personally and will delay it as long as I can because I still don't know how it will react with Classic Shell and the old Windows Search Bar.

It's actually not moved at all based on your screenshot, but what's missing is the bar with power and account options that was to the left of the search bar. It makes it look moved to the right, but it's only because what was on the left is no longer there.

I fresh installed in a VM windows 10 again, but it looks like it's still missing?

I got the Education version

It could be a policy that has disabled the options. Get a program call ultimate Windows 10 tweaker and you can customise the power and account options, maybe that will enable it.

Alternativey if you are comfortable changing the options yourself you can open the group policy editor and change the setting there (if that is the problem).

Or use powershell to check the options.

Group criteria? On a fresh install?
I literally just installed the iso from the microsoft website, why do I need to do that?

Yea, I'm dubious about it too, but it IS microsoft so crazy shit happens randomly and that menu control in group policies is where to check first. At this point we're just needing to check every place where you can control this option.
