Too hot... I've taken a 1060 offline as it is next to my computer desk and the heat kinda gets trapped. Debating hitting the 1070 also... will leave the 2070 going regardless. That in comparison takes hardly any power while still giving good ppd.

Unofficial Daily Results

I'm surprised you don't just edit the table values and make yours start with a 7 instead of a 6 just to make me cry.

Any ideas when we might see better WU's?  Kinda sad I can't break 2M PPD with my 1080ti's.

Nope. If your running Beta you’ll just have to hope the 11733 WUs or any other OpenMM 22 WUs come back when the Sloan Kettering Server come back on-line.

Open MM 22 has the potential to overcome some of the production deficiencies in Windows but the WUs are finicky to Overclocking.  They run mostly OK on my 1060s and 1070 Ti but I get a significant enough number of failures on my RTX cards even with underclocking that I stopped running them on RTX.

Luckily the forecast changed here as I was expecting to have to turn on the A/C today. Tomorrow it was supposed to get to 30C and my basement is already about 5-8C over outside.

So in your opinion, should I stay on beta or remove the beta flags and just run normal?

If there’s no beta WUs you’ll just get advanced and normal WUs so you can try running without but you’ll have to finish the current WU then restart the FAHclient.

Probably not worth it.

Guys, I should be going home soon but please take the results that @Gorgon posted as official. My pregnant partner took a funny turn so we ended up at the local hospital, it all seems okay but they wanted to assess my partner over night.

Thanks for your understanding people :)

All systems on NNW. As I seem to only get long units, I don't think anything started after these would make it before the finish anyway. And I really need to get house temps down before bedtime.

Decided to order a 1650 to replace a 1060 3GB, and once the other system is done with its unit, I'm moving the 2070 to replace my 1080Ti. The two systems are active whenever I'm at home, and it is far too hot for anything less than power efficient now!

I’d be curious to get your take on the 1650’s performance. I know it was generally panned for performance in Gaming with the recommendation being a 570 but it does appear to have significant advantages in efficiency.

I know the current recommendations for CPU and GPUis to wait until after the Zen 3/Navi launches to see their performance and any Subsequent discounts from Intel/Nvidia but I don’t expect any response from Nvidia in the low range SKUs until we start seein some of the lower end Navi cards hit the market.

im waiting for a refresh on the Radeon Pro line and hoping we’ll see some new products. I use a FirePro W4100 now on my main rig for PhotoShop/Lightroom and find it much easier on the pocket thanQuadro for 10-bit colour enabled editing.

Well we definitely won’t reach 10th before the end of the sprint but we’re currently 5 days out so I expect we’ll have it in a week or so.

I’m going to continue at a slightly lower power targets until the A/C gets turned on then I’ll really reduce my production.

I expect we will have to leave going after the current 9th ranked team for the Fall competition.

From a pure gaming performance per $ perspective there is some argument to get an older AMD card, but that doesn't matter at all for my use cases. I know whatever they did in the 2070 meant it is as fast as the 1080Ti in other compute cases I do, and at lower power. While I don't know if it applies to the 1650 (yet) I'm kinda hopeful.

Only reason I kept the 1080Ti in my gaming machine is it does still have more performance there, but I think it is time to sell it on while I see how Super cards do. They're pretty low priced anyway so any further % based reduction wont have a practical difference. Based on what's been released about navi so far, I don't see any reason to get it other than if you hate nvidia. You could argue about gaming price/performance but as soon as you throw power in, it is game over. I will watch it to see how it does in compute, but I'm really not optimistic on power efficiency.

I did play with power limit on the 1060 and it seems to make it more power efficient (work done vs power used) but I didn't do detail analysis in that. I'm going to move that into a less important system as it is practically worthless now.
