Should I buy Ryzen 2700X now?

With the AMD announcement on the 3000 series, should I buy 2700X (lower price) or wait for the 3700X? This means a possible 570X motherboard as well. Obviously the new technology is better but then there will be 4000 series next year.

Are 2700X prices now likely to drop? I am not a gamer but a good kit is important.

We see price drop of ryzen dramatically roughly after 1 yr after launch, and sure x570 shall support gen 1&2 ryzen.

but remember next gen 4000 is the refresh and the last AM4 socket

if the price are good get the 2700x now

2700x isn't worth it

i'd take the 2700 in consideration if you want something right now, with a solid mobo to upgrade down the line

Just out of curiosity; why don’t you think the 2700x is worth it? Seen it happen many times people telling well you can OC anyway - but the 2700’s are lower binned, so you can’t always get the same performance as the X

i'd definitely wait unless the 2700/x is under 175usd, the 6/12 that's announced is 199usd, each core when oc'd will probably be 15-20% faster overall, and uses less power. you'd have to REALLY get the 2700 for cheap to save any money.

because it isn't that much lower binned, for normally a difference of 60-80 dollars

i'm not that big of a fan of higher binning in general

But you don’t get the same performance ? Hence they higher price tag. (Cause of lower binning, slower clocks).

Intel spans the crown tho when it comes to k or non k price difference ?

That’s my point about binning too.. the X are the higher binned/more headroom than the non X’s. Some non X you aren’t lucky but have seen many times that they can’t go as high as the X.

But it I understand point !
