Upgrading from an older PC

Hello Community,

So I am trying to upgrade from a kinda old PC and I only need to swap out the motherboard, Ram, Graphics card and CPU. I know my Power supply is sufficient (650 W from Be quiet, modular) so I don't really need a new one..you may suggest one if you wish to do so tho.

Below I listed some parts that sound good to me..you may suggest better parts tho if you feel it's abit bad. I usually do light gaming on my PC (like Tomb Raider Shadow of the smth, Assaissins Creed Origin, etc) since I mainly play on my PS4 (yes..please don't bash me) and mainly surfing and watching videos. I listed the SDD and HDD because I plan on installing my OS to the SDD as a clean install or imported/transfered from my current mechanical drive. I have no clue how to do so tho.

CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk
Ram: Gskill 16GB DDR4-3200
Graphic: Zotac GTX 1050 TI OC
SDD: Cruical MX500 500gb
HDD: WD Blue 4TB

Any help would be appreciated..thanks!

Get RX 570/580, Ram for 3000Mhz isnt going to kill you almost no difference.

It's at 3 AM my time, so i'm sleeping at 8:30 PM instead of the regular 10:45PM.

Is it better compatible than a GTX?? Also does it matter what brand for Ram I should take?

This kinda graphics? MSI Radeon RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC or MSI Radeon RX 570 ARMOR 8G OC

its a better GPU overall, Yes kinda but for that 200mhz difference i wouldnt if the price for 3000mhz is cheaper.

maybe get a better model rather than armor like Red Devil or Sapphire stuff (i would say all is good)

Well yea I can't watch too since it will be while I am sleeping :/..so I wil just wait for coverage of it...

I am just confused since alot of people are recommending me to wait for that event..but if there are any better components introduced...don't they usually take some time til they reach the market? I mean..I am not an US citizen afterall--

  • 4 weeks later...

I decided that I won't be going with the new Ryzen chipsets but will wait till they are out

so my part list will look like this now:

Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk
CPU: RYZEN 5 2600
SSD: Cruicial MX500
RAM: GSkill Aegis 16GB 3000mhz

I will get the Sapphire 580 graphics card aswell...but now I am looking for a cheap but reliable PSU .. I think 550 - 650 W should be enough..any recommendations?
