Last night I saw a glowing trail of something in the sky. Wtf was it?

My GF and I were out walking and saw a glowing streak in the sky that looked like it was in the formation of a trail of jet exhaust. But it was glowing (not super bright), like a narrow trail of burning debris. It slowly died out over the course of about 2 minutes. It wasn't spread out though, like a downed satellite would be. We didn't see where it came from, I've never seen anything like it before. Any idea wtf it could've been?

Space x starlink satellites. The launched 60 of them and They are still spreading out. What you saw was the sun reflecting off of them

I don't think that was it. It wasn't moving like that, it was still. So it didn't move out of sight, it just died out after a minute or 2.

Sounds like you saw a fireball, a fancy science word for a very bright meteor that typically leaves a trail of ionized gases behind it. Uncommon but not unusual.

The Starlink satellites are very faint and are only really visible to the naked eye in optimal conditions. They are also moving much slower than meteors.

I saw something similar last summer. I do some star gazing and I know what a satellite looks like, same goes for the ISS, planes, and a meteor. It was a giant blue square that was really bright and had a super long blue tail on it. It just appeared and slowly moved across the sky before it went behind a tree and it was gone. From the angle we were looking at it, size, and speed I just can't comprehend. It was either extremely massive or very low to the ground. It was too slow to be a meteor, the blue glowing tail made it not a fire lantern thing, plane would be faster and not have giant glowing features, was too bright for a reflection of the sun on a satellite, and it wasn't a rocket launch. I used to believe in UFOs as a kid but got bored as I never could definitively have proof outside of Youtube. Well I still am looking to see what it was lol

It's important to note that most people use the term "UFO" to mean "Alien spaceship". That's not what UFO means.

 

UFO means exactly what it stands for - no more, no less = Unidentified Flying Object

 

UFO's could be any number of things - all it means, is that you the observer can't readily or easily identify it at that moment.

 

Now, I 100% believe in Aliens - in the sense that the galaxy has to, statistically have other lifeforms. Furthermore, the galaxy has to have other sentient lifeforms. However, there's nothing to say that those other lifeforms have managed to discover the technology (or some natural phenomenon) that allows for intragalactic travel. I do believe that there probably are some alien lifeforms that have that technology - but that's not based on anything, really. I'm also not considering life in other galaxies, because there's literally no point, given the distances.

 

Now, do I think there's a government conspiracy, ala Deus Ex or The X-Files? No. At least, not necessarily.

 

However, given the large number of recently declassified UFO footage (mostly from Military chase-cams), increases my belief that alien life has visited Earth.

 

With all of that in mind? Did you see a UFO? I doubt it. But it's marginally possible.
