Cougar MX330-X Mid Tower

Anyone here with this case?  Im between modding my Rosewill Nautilus case (which will run me $20-30 in materials) or just buying a better airflow case - Im always working with a budget and have been eyeballing the subject case for some time as it supports modest radiator positioning, side intake, clean looking case (meets my criteria).  Whats your opinion on this case?

If anyone here has or had one, is it possible to do a 240mm radiator up top (supports 2x120mm fans or 1x120mm radiator) I am NOT opposed to cutting things out or modding to make a radiator fit upstairs.

 

Im looking to spend sub $50, patient can wait for a sale if needed etc.

I have not, Ive been waiting for it to go to free shipping (I check every day/other day).  I need to replace a crappy airflow case with this one as this one also looks to support a custom loop MUCH better than the case I have one of my rigs in (Rosewill Nautilus 1.0, GREAT budget case @ 25 shipped, just not a great case)

I will probably pull the trigger on this one within 2 weeks (next pay period) because Ive already spent my hobby allotment on more water cooling parts lol

From the looks of it and reviews it sounds and looks like an Amazing case for the price.  Im just trying to buy it as cheeeeeply as possible (and hoping not to see it go up!)

@Hashbrowns116 Ill be ordering it Thursday!  (this is also serving to remind myself) 

 

It hit 104F here so ambient house temps were up and my GPU in my Ryzen Rig 1 was hitting 72c and noisy AF.  Will be running the setup as air cooling sans the CPU on an AIO (its on a 120mm right now but I have a 240 Im going to try to fit as top exhaust first) - will let you know as things progress!

Ill do a proper review in a week or two (probably receive in a week, then make the time over the next week to transfer a system to it - Ryzen Rig 1 in the sig - and advise how thermals are.  Right now I hit between 65c-72c on the GPU in that rig.  Assuredly the 200mm side intake will tame that(if it fits..Im hoping this isn't a marketing scheme when dealing with large cards!) but then I also want to drop a custom loop in it so will do a review on its ability to contain a large loop (with no modding)

I actually just learned that this case fits a 200mm fan because of this post LOL

 

The MX330-S has an indentation outwards, so I think it should be good even with a taller card (though the only build I could find of someone installing a side fan was using a reference height PCB with no mention of it "being close" or "a tight fit"

Ever since Ive had my Cooler Master HAF XM Ive wanted another with side intake @ 200mm at a reasonable price, Im hoping this foots the bill!  Plus it looks like its going to be easy to put a custom loop in, which I have all intention of doing soon

Case arrived today @Hashbrowns116 but its past 7pm here so wont be able to dig into this bad boy until this weekend.  Box came in not smashed so that's a plus LOL

nice dude! i for got to post on here, i actually just bought it too and recently finished my build in it.  good little case if i do say so myself, mine came with the front panel cracked at the bottom but most of the time i dont even notice it

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit 15mm 2.5" HDDs (like Seagate 5TB) in this case?

Wife is gaming on that PC atm, I can check later tonight, I don't have a 15mm thick but I can stack another SSD on one of them and see if I can shut the panel with room enough to spare.  Feeling the side of the case where the cable management comes out if it didn't, you could DIY the screw holes further right easy enough to make it fit but Ill double check when I can (tonight or tomorrow morning)

There's some heightened space in the panel, but it doesn't cover the whole panel, so that's why I'm worried if it's gonna close successfully or not.

Maybe in the near future side panels with ventilation will come back in style and some manufacture will utilize it with vertical mount GPU. It seems like am good idea or am I wrong?

Most likely you will be able to, if they created compatibility for 2.5 drives they should also have taken into account the different types of thickness...

2 SSDs stacked on top of each other is as close to flush with the panel as you can get (~14mm) which you can shut.  My guess is you could DIY the mount holes a little forward (to the right in the above pic for reference) for this application but its very close.

I just tried a 15mm HDD (from a USB enclosure) and unfortunately it's impossible to close the lid with it.

Does anyone else have issues with the HDD LED?

It does appear to turn red behind those empty USB slots, but the light doesn't come through the plastic (if you know what I mean)...

The (blue) power LED seems to work fine, although it's too bright for my own taste (I prefer dimmer green LEDs).

My red led is lined up no issues with its hole

May I ask if the red led is as bright/annoying as the blue one?

I'm thinking if I should return the case to get a replacement, but it's a hassle to disassemble the entire PC and maybe it's not worth it if it's going to burn my eyes...
