Posted May 24, 2019 Now, as mean as this might sound, it's a legitimate question. If I'm even a little tired I find myself falling asleep during Steve's videos. Nothing against his content, it's very informative and some of the best for what it is. His voice though. So monotone, and I just knock right out. How about you guys? Posted May 24, 2019 i have used Steve to knock me the final way out yes I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays... nothing, it just sits there collecting dust... Builds: The Toaster Project! Northern Bee! The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0) Spoiler "Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life. #1. Treat others as you would like to be treated. #2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt. #3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place. Follow these simple rules in life, and I promise you, things magically get easier. Posted May 24, 2019 Technically, Steve is amazing at the information he presents.. however he can be a bit on the condescending side IMO and lacking in the humor, but thats just how his channel is. About presenting the facts as they are without trying to spin things to make them more interesting. I cant say ive ever fallen asleep to his videos, but I have stopped watching them at times because it was giving me the wrong itch. Posted May 24, 2019 Hes' gotten a lot better, but oh man, some of his older videos.... Put in some headphones and head to sleep. There's a reason why most of the roasts directed at him were for boring sounding videos. Honestly I watch his videos at 1.5 or 2x speed. Posted May 24, 2019 I only watched a few of their videos when I was really interested by the topic but if there's an article related to the video I'd go for it. That's actually the case for most YouTube channels which also have a blog, like Hardware Unboxed.
 Posted May 24, 2019 I've slowly stopped watching the the channel. The topics are either repetitive, late or just not relevant the majority of the time. Way too many drawn out case reviews or entry/mid-range video cards that only matter if you are in the market. At that, if the product reviews were 2-3 minutes tops and had a huge library, then it would be beneficial for research, but not as daily entertainment. That's where the other tech channels are doing laps around GN. Linus, Jay, Paul and the others mix it up enough. He also goes overboard with a certain topic instead of a single high quality video. Do I really need to watch 30 minutes of videos to find out way the handful of 2080 Ti's they looked into died? The other thing I really don't get about the channel are great plans to do PSU testing, new location and so on, but the content and quality is pretty much the same over the last 3 years. At least LTT has grown in content and quality after expanding. Maybe that's why his subscriber counts are still behind other similar channels and not really growing. Posted May 24, 2019 I can't fall asleep while watching a video unless I'm both tired and super drunk. That being said, GN is all about presenting technical information in an impartial way. I don't think of it in the same entertainment way as I think of LTT, JayZ, and so on. HardwareUnboxed would probably be the middle ground between entertainment and GN-style highly technical videos.
