Computer Without hard drive?

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

Most all modern pcs support pxe booting from a network boot server, but really, just have a small ssd for the os, makes working with it much easier.

is it possible to have a computer boot from a storage server?

my idea is to have a storage server with a few drives in some raid configuration and have it accessible from anywhere, but the catch is i would like to have another computer use this storage structure as its C: drive access via network cable.

i haven't worked out any particulars yet as this is still conceptual.

Thanks for any help

Yes. You could either boot using FC or iscsi

I run my ESXI off of a flash drive, and Unraid recommends the same.

Dedicating all the local drives to the data store is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
