what would be better to do

I want to set up a NAS for my home. Want I'm try to do is be able to put file and store games on it for later and maybe a media sever like on it. So the question is, is it better to buy a client like Netgear  with readynas or build one and add Freenas to it. It would be nice to access it from anyway. But if not its fine. I don't know what to do.

on the premade can u just put any kind of files on it like games. the budget is around 600. 

Is it hard to set up the software  of a  NAS 

1.10 TB is all i need for now

2. is how much power do you think i need for streaming, video editing,(2-6 cores, ram 8 or 16 ) , because i think i can get more out of it if i build one
