Nvidia says 'something super is coming', any guesses?

MeatFeastMan

https://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-teases-something-super-ahead-of-amds-navi-gpu-launch/

Nvidia gives us a teaser and says something super is coming. What could that be? PCGamer suggests:

Quote

One possibility is Super DLSS. In the early going, there was talk of DLSS 2X, which is basically DLSS applied to the chosen resolution to enhance the image without upscaling.

OR

Quote

Super DXR is another possibility, albeit a remote one, consisting of a tweak to make ray tracing easier and faster. Or maybe a combination of both, marketed as Super RTX!

OR even...

Quote

If it does end up being hardware, though, we could be looking at a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Super.

I think personally it'll be tied in with the previous rumors of gpu's with 16gbps GDDR6 to take the sting off Navi. I'm guessing it'll just be on the 2080 and 2080ti. And they'll name them as the bit above says..a 2080 'Super' and 2080ti 'Super'. Does anybody else have any ideas of what they might be trying to do here, because it's very hard to tell. One thing we do know however is that whatever is being proposed, it'll be worth your kidneys and possibly an arm and a leg will have to be sacrificed too.

I don't personally think that Super DLSS or Super DXR is big enough and bold enough to be worth a whole teaser video about it. And having a 'Super' card would be very annoying to be honest. How many cards do Nvidia need? There's rumors of a 2050ti and 2070ti too for goodness sakes. Therefore, does having a 'Super' card even make any sense? It's got to be something else surely.

Anyone have any clue as to what this might be? Maybe the font gives something away? The only other thing I can think of is a card that is specifically for gaming and slots in between the 2080ti and Titan RTX (Maybe the price gap is deliberately there to fit another card in further down the line?)

Well, I sure hope that if it's a graphics card, it's actually a relatively major performance improvement. Our hopes were sort of crushed with the RTX graphics cards.

Maybe they are back to yearly releases with a new "enthusiast' card...

But imo, most likely something to do with super computers and their AI/ Research lab cards, since AMD is creeping in on that market.

My bet is it going to be Supersampling DLSS. Or people are going to be Super in debt.

The return of AA 32x. No, wait, GeForce logo on the GPU color change. No, I know! Nvidia SoundStorm!!!!

(if you didn't get the references: Nvidia removed 32X AA because AMD Radeon didn't support it  and super taxing on a GPU where in any case no one used this feature. Nvidia's has been releasing reference design GPUs which feature RGB wiring for the GeForce illuminated logo, but the functionality isn't used, nor have driver support to make a software to control it. And Nvidia SoundStom is Nvidia failed attempt at making a gaming sound chip. While it was decent sound solution at the time, most premium motherboards had equivalent or superior sound chip, and of course a dedicated sound card or external DAC would be still superior. Motherboard manufacture didn't really like putting that sound chip due to cost which didn't make sense. It also had horrible marketing material for that sound card, complete with a ear bleeding song still availl on Nvidia website - you have been warned).

An over powered PR department will be unleashed upon the world saying minor improvements are epic (in specific circumstances).

Like that allegorical dramatization of nvidia vs the world which aired some time ago.

the super hype cash train

There is no enemy. The foe on the battlefield is merely the manifestation of that which we must overcome. The doubt, and fear, and despair. Every battle is fought within. Conquer the battlefield that lies inside you, and the enemy disappears like the illusion it is.
