Good 21:9 monitor

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

I am looking for a 21:9 monitor for gaming and programming. I currently have the BenQ GW2255 as a main monitor at my pc(have a tv that i use for gaming as well) and have a really old philips monitor that is 720p. I'd like a monitor that is at least 1080p and has about the same or a better color spectrum on the new monitor. My limit is around 200 euro's and if possible i'd like it to be curved as well. I am never that good at looking for things like headsets and monitors, since i am more interested in the hardware of my pc and not the peripherals.

What country exactly? That's a bit of a tight budget I doubt you can fit a proper 3440x1440p screen on it therefore you'll be limited to 2560x1080p ultrawides.

2560x1080p resolution only looks good on 29 inches variants, the 25 inches is far too small and the 34 inches is far too big (bad pixelation issues), so that leaves us with stuff like the LG 29UM68-P - 29WK600-W - 29UM69G-B, all those models uses the same panel inside which is a really great IPS Matte screen of 75hz native refresh rate.

thanks for the quick response.

My country is The netherlands. luckily i work a one of the biggest webstores(coolblue) so that gives me a 10% discount. I didn't think i could get a 1440p screen out of it either, but you never know with fluctuating prices. I am looking at the LG 29WK600-w now and it looks pretty good(especially with the hdr support).

I used to use the LG 25um58, their 29 inch version might just fit in your budget

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k (won) - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Kill Trident Z RGB - Force MP500 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - The venerated Hyper 212 Evo (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G2 650W - Black and green theme, Razer branwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Linux Proliant ML150 G6:

Dual Xeon X5560 - 24GB ECC DDR3 - GTX 750 TI - old Seagate 1.5TB HDD - Dark moded Ubuntu (and Win7, cuz why not)

EVGA G3 thread, BR/BT threadSeasonic Focus thread, S12II/M12II thread, Userbenchmark (Et al.) is trash explained, PSU misconceptions

The 29UM58 has been discontinued and succeeded by the 29UM68-P.

This is probably your best bet but don't hold your breath regarding the HDR thing, it's implementation is nothing fancy all it does is make things brighter if I'm honest.

Still, for the price and your desire for 21:9 it's among your best bet.

If you can find this for under 200 euros I'd suggest getting it:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QCF48d/lg-29um69g-b-290-2560x1080-75hz-monitor-29um69g-b

I've got the 34 inch version of this monitor and it's brilliant. You get loads for the price, lots of nice little features too like crosshair, 1ms motion blur reduction etc. Not had a single issue with it.

i'm able to find that one in 29 inch form for around 200 euros. I think i'll go for that one since it has 1ms response time and because it is black(my whole setup is black and pc has orange accents
