Hi


i would like to ask suggestions for the PC that I will build.
the PC will be use by 6 user 1 CPU.

what are the hardware for this PC? it will be use

mostly for encoding only.

dont bother. just get 6 smaller ITX HTPC builds that you can stack on top of eachother. 

 

any decent solution would be quite expencive and cause more trouble than its worth.

well... you probably want 4 cores/user

6x4+2=26 cores

 

add enough GPUs (1 person=one gpu) and one for supervisor

 

so get ready to get into threadripper, xeon or epycs

if you are going to do it properly you are looking at a lot of very expencive equipment.

why not use multipoint in windows?

all 6 user will only use a encoding system. and no other app will be installed

Way overkill for multipoint, the users won't need much cpu for basic tasks, and cpu is shared amount users, so one user can have a burst of speed if needed.

You would still be looking at around 12c.

 

I would at least have a core ready for any user. Though you are most likely correct.

for what most users are doing, they will need less than a core levels of performance on average, Im guessing this would work fine on a 4 or 6 core systems. They really don't need much cpu power.

 

Have you taken a look at cpu usage averages on office desktops? From what I am monotoring, there mostly sitting at less than 25% usage and these are mobile first gen i3s

it will use a VB.net windows form system, A exam application.
I also don't know multipoints. the software i am using for multiple user is

Do you have a system to test it with? This shouldn't need much hardware to run on, mostly a lot of video outputs(get a few low end gpus).

as of now i don't have a spare system to test this. my only reference was my dual user. i only use the integrated GPU for the 2 monitor.
