VA vs IPS panels?

Looking to buy Acer Predator Z35P VA or X34P IPS.

 

One is IPS and one is VA.

 

IPS lottery has not been kind to me with Alienware monitors and yellowing on one side wasn't great.

 

So I'm wondering, which type of panel would be better?

 

 

Main PC:

CPU: Intel Core i9 13900KS SP 116 (124P-102E) (6.1Ghz P-Cores 4.8Ghz E-cores) MC SP 88

CPU Voltage: LLC8 1.525V (real voltage 1.425V + - Temps 85-90 P-Cores, 70-73 E-cores)

Cooled by: Supercool Direct Die 14th gen full nickel

Cooling: Three Custom Loops:

1st Loop: 5x 480mm XE CoolStream radiators with 1x Revo D5 RGB pump and 1x Rajintek Antila D5 Evo RGB pump for GPU only cooling with 2x Koolance QDC3, red coolant

2nd Loop: 5x 480mm XE CoolStream radiators with 1x Revo D5 RGB pump and 1x Rajintek Antila D5 Evo RGB pump for CPU only cooling with 2x Koolance QDC3, purple coolant

They're pretty much the same, probably go for VA for the slightly better black levels.

Why not go for the 4k 120hz display instead? Think the Wasabi Mango is a bit down in price now.

I've always prefered IPS, they have better colors imo. I've only used ones from Asus and LG though, never Alienware

I would opt for IPS. Can’t beat those colours (and overall just love IPS panels) my vote Goes to X34

I'd go with the X34, if IPS glow is excessive you can always RMA.

I use both.

 

For general computing I use a 32" 4k VA panel and for gaming a 38" 3840 X 1600 IPS panel. 

 

If there was a big difference in quality I would replace the VA panel but there isn't.

 

If I was buying now I would go IPS but only if it had HDR. The cheesy HDR on my LG IPS panel seems to allow it to compete with the higher contrast of the VA.

If I was buying a 3440 X 1440 monitor it would be a LG Ultra Gear Freesync for that reason.
