R7 360 Gigabyte running too hot?

LuckyAsFox
Go to solution Solved by SigmaDire,

if you can't add fans or change case(for a gpu lol) then you should run it with the side open and to be honest that case is just shit going into the future if you can't improve the thermals it's going to have to go sooner or later anyway

Bought this R7 360 gigbyte version second hand from gumtree. The owner said it was barely used which i believed since it was very clean. I popped it in my system and overclocked the memory from 1500 to 2000 and clock from 1200 to 1250 but was surprised to see it idle at 47c and maxed at 85c playing fortnite or for honor. Are these temps normal? and can i lower the temps somehow by changing the stock thermal paste?

The r7 is a card that generally runs pretty hot. You can change the thermal paste which usually works on cards that run hot because the manufactures use bad thermal paste

I'm picking up some MX-4 Arctic specifically this one. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221387183635?_trksid=p2380057.m570.l6004&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI221387183635.N41.S2.R1.TR1

Would that work fine?

I tried the thermal paste and it didn't lower the temps at all. In fact it made it go up by 4c from 87 to 91. Great...

amd cards are great for winter

that being said is your CPU heatsink pulling air against the exhaust fan or pushing air out of it?

and it would be more important to know how your case fans are setup my friend

Literally just buy a 1920x is best CPU

AMD shill

AORUS shill

I see two fans and no information about the way your cpu fan is going so I'm going to assume that your case only has 2 fans and you don't know which way your cpu cooler is going so I'm going to go ahead and diagnose your problem and that is it.

You're welcome

what you have told me means nothing, a proper statement that gives me information that can help me determine if your fan or cooler needs to be repositioned is

"it is sucking from my exhaust fan and blowing air into my case"

or

"it is sucking air from my case and blowing air into my exhaust fan"

My cpu cooler exhausting air from its fan going into the back exhaust fan. Going to add a side fan to my side panel that exhausts the air out. I think that we'll work

I think my panel fans are crap. If i buy decent quality fans and replace these crap ones then  then maybe the temperature will lower.
