I'm just finishing up a complete PA upgrade and AV setup in a church (about to start a complete Wireless hearing augmentation system).

I am building my sons school a racing trike for the annual 24hour challenge.

I am building my father in law a fire fighting trailer with 1000L tank and pump.

I am about to sit a trainers course and get my first aid to be an emergency trainer at my sons footy club (I also video the matches).

I get a shit load of meaning out of life by helping my community and the kids in it.

Watch porn for me. Regardless of what people say, porn has great artistic and literary values.

Video games and alcohol in my free time.

And when I'm sober I work on cars. My parents want me to have a high paying job in some office that I spent 4 years at school for. I want my car to be fast, built by ME, the way I want it. Ever since I was a little kid all I've ever wanted was nice cars. I could care less about having a big house and a bunch of leeching children. I've always loved cars and have spent most of my life learning how they work and how to repair and modify them. I wish my parents would support my passion but unfortunately you can't please everyone, it took me a long time to learn that and I still have trouble with the concept to this day, as much as I try and try to please people. I understand they want what's best for me but if it's not something I enjoy then what's the point? Sure I don't make a lot of money but I'm only 19 and I'm already doing things I only dreamed about as a kid.

Do what you love, don't let anyone stop you. It's YOUR life, make of it what YOU want, not what others think is right.

I spend my spare time entertaining myself.

Some people find entertainment on social media, others on youtube videos... Some people prefer doing/watching sports or doing some sort of hobby...
But at the end of the day, the thing most humans do in their spare time, is looking for entertainment in one way or another. What is entertainment to one person might be a pointless waste of time to another. Your coworker is a judgmental twat that thinks their form of entertainment is superior to others. But there's no right or wrong answer to that question.

I personally spend my free time either surfing the web or just read a novel. Because that's the thing that entertains me these days.

Basically, a co-worker is telling me that my life is meaningless and that there isn't a point to it.

Respond with, "Preciate it."

how do others spend their time? What do you guys do in your spare time and, what goals do you have, if any?

People spend their time doing what is available to them. I spend my time doing what is available to me. The majority of my time is centered around video games. I find and play video games. I watch people play video games together. I randomly try to help people with their PC gaming. I watch hundreds upon hundreds of videos, movies and TV shows. I cook food and eat it. I drink liquids that are healthy to my body. I watch sports teams that I'm a fan of. I read about everything to do with everything I spend my time with. I do yard work when necessary. I visit family and spend time with them. I visit friends and spend time with them. Friends and family visit me and I spend time doing whatever we feel like doing. I order food from take out restaurants and eat it at family members houses and drink free coffee afterwards. I go grocery shopping and eat at random restaurants. I catch a new movie when they hit $1.50 movie theaters. I participate in sports in my local neighborhood/town.

I do other shit but not as often as what you see above. You just read what I mostly do and have done with my life. I think I've only had one goal my entire life. And that is to live it the way I've always lived it. Nothing more, nothing less. I let each and every day be. And whatever it turns out to be, is all that I feel I'll ever need.

Whether my life has meaning or purpose is insignificant to me. As long as I'm alive, that's all that matters. Life is what I make it.

Music.

Concerts.

Drinking.

Working.

Brewing beer.

Spending time with my dog.

Life is what you make of it. If you only see the negative then you'll live a negative life.

I find it odd for someone to comment on another person's life and say it is meaningless. After all, a purposeful life is different for each of us. And even if you feel that the remark is true, the way you said it makes me assume that it was unsolicited.

Anyway, I keep myself occupied with work that I don't necessarily like all the time, but is enough to put food on the table, I squeeze in traveling from time to time, I watch as much movies and shows that I can (gone are the times when they felt like wasting time - the right shows can make your life richer), read news and random stuff (just recently, I searched how to properly clean a microwave because I realized I never learned how, here is a guide I found), play video games and make time to connect to my family and friends. Having more of the last is a goal of mine.
