what can I do to not become insane until i can update to 3700x

im on a 10 year old q6600, editing video is hell, when i add many VST and effects i have to edit in draft (quarter) in vegas

just a couple more months and i will be free. i hope i can edit faster, render faster, not have limitations in creativity. also in music, i want to be able to load many reaktor 5 vst instances

what can i do until then, to not become insane?

i must wait an additional 2 to 3 months after its released to see how it performs after being globally mass tested

im on a hdd to boot cause the mobo does not support ssd

im going nuts

You could get all you want/need with a "throwaway CPU" such as the Athlon 200GE, wich you need to flash the BIOS anyway.

And then drop in a Zen2...

Look up overclocking guides and push that bitch balls out. When you know you're upgrading soon is the best time to throw everything you've got at it and see what she'll do.

Also, I'm not aware of any motherboard that is incompatibility with a SATA SSD (save for some of the newer Samsung SSD's). That would be as important than a new CPU.

With LGA 775, you can do the 771 mod to use the higher binned cheap used Xeons. You should be able to get significantly better performance than a Q6600 with them or a Q9550, ect. All the LGA775 stuff seems to have settled to about the same price so provided your motherboard supports the newer cpus you'll be fine. My Q6600 build does beautifully with the finest of Team Group 60GB $20 SSDs, boots faster than a lot of machines far newer.

Are you using some sort of OEM prebuilt? Because if you can't overclock, you're definitely stuck.

tbh its too much hassle, i think I will just wait, if they are released next month, then by august I guess it will be safe to buy one since we will know if there is or isnt a fatal flaw within a month of milions of people testing the things

deep breaths, back cracks, or a ssd would do, keep the spending low, as you can pick up a 3770 used comp on amazon with win10/ssd combo for like 275usd anytime.
